Didn't do enough research with you folks. End up paying more than I should TODAY 4/5/2025. 46K TSRP, which is about 3K more than MSRP due to useless options. Negotiated down to 43K before TTL.

That's too bad, but good you got it now; you'll still be ahead of the game in a few months for sure. Dealer stock buffering aside, it looks like, the effects will be felt quickly enough, even if it is spread around among the Toyota, the dealers, and the customers (dealer BS; or in ways like increased financing costs from Toyota Financing, if not strictly sales prices right away). With inflation about to spike and productivity slowing and people getting laid off, higher borrowing costs will not welcome.

This is what I am really curious about. Given the global supply chain, every vehicle will also cost more to maintain too, and the new-ish used market is going to go nuts.

We might even have a situation like during the pandemic, when Toyota had ramped down production due in part to global supply chain issues, where there is little to no stock and everything that trickles in is overpriced.

    Recall - stop sale info.
It ends up it is only certain VIN’s.

2 trucks that are close by (Hometown Toyota, Ontario, OR) have the recall and have been removed from the dealers website. I talked with a salesman about it. Toyota is supposed to get a fix out before June. The dealer would be very happy to get down payments on these and would probably make good deals.

I found one that I wanted that wasn’t recalled at Lithia Toyota in Missoula. I purchased it easily over the phone.

After my dealer stroking me for the last 6 months I started searching on my own. Found the truck I wanted less than 150 miles away. Immediately placed a deposit on it at $3686 off TSRP. Scheduled to be built late April with delivery late May or early June. Fingers crossed that I can pull this off before the tariffs raise the prices.

I've been searching in OR and WA for a TRD OR with upgrade pkg and nothing else, 4dr 6' in Bronze Oxide. I can spring for 14" screen since seems nothing doesnt have it. One dealer can come close ... it has $1200 in stuff I don't want and dealer will do ~8% off SRP. It's tempting since I don't know if I could find a better fit - almost all the 6' Bronze have premium pkg. I'm equally tempted to say 'f this' and not buy anything...(but I have no car) and also equally tempted to pay the extra ~$2K over what I had hoped to pay (10% off SRP on the options i want).

How are people finding the car they want? Just calling every dealer until they find it? non-recall versions of my 'dream build' seem like unicorns.

I used the inventory search on the Toyota website. Just had to expand my search a little further out. If you are looking for a unicorn it may be rather challenging to find what you want. I have had a deposit down since September with a local dealer who did little to nothing to sell me a new truck. They were only interested in selling what they had in the pipeline or on the lot. End result, they lost a sale and could likely care less.

    1. 2025, TRD Off Road, Ice Cap, Automatic, 5ft
    2. Base MSRP: $43,745
    3. Options: $845 (Audio Multimedia Upgrade - includes 14-in Toyota Audio Multimedia display)
    4. Cost of dealer add ons: $4,176: ARB Rear Tow Hooks $425; Ball Mount $89; Blackout Package $349 black badge overlays and tailgate insert; $75 Connectivity Kit (some charging cables...); $499 Dash Cam; $399 Vehicle Protection Package - paint renewer cleaner, paint sealant, fabric guard; $745 Predator Drop Step; $1,595 Delivery, Processing, and Handling Fee...
    5. Price before Tax Title License (TTL) including incentive/rebate: $43,351
    6. Discount 1-(#5/#2)*100=% off MSRP): 1% according to this math... are yall really getting options and dealer add-ons for free, and THEN a discount?? This is only the second car I've ever bought, so I'd love to learn if I got ripped off here before I buy my wife a new car in the coming years.
    7. Incentive (rebate/customer cash): $0
    8. Price Out The Door (OTD): $35,968 (this includes trade allowance impact from below)
    9. Trade in vehicle(year, make, model, trim): 2015, Chevy, Colorado, WT 4x4
    10. Kelley blue book trade-in value: $10,000-$12,000 range for "Fair" condition... I think mine was probably on the lower end of "Fair". Lots of dings and a couple windshield chips, in need of a new steering rack, and the AC compressor/condenser just died. So I wanted to trade in now rather than fix and trade in within the next year anyway.
    11. Trade allowance(amount given for trade): $10,000
    12. Date purchased: 4/18/25
    13. State purchased: Texas

OK thanks, yeah I thought I did just fine! But I thought I must be missing something dividing sale price by MSRP before dealer add-ons as listed in the instructions. Would love to learn others' ways for next time if it's common to have add-ons entirely discounted and then get even more discounts.

Such a bizarre discount number $5,001.40. Not that any other discount amount is normal just curious if there’s more to the story.

I negotiated on the OTD price, notice that's a nice round figure.

Dealer & port add-ons can suck the air out of an otherwise attractive looking deal.

When negotiating, keep a close eye on what your first-year depreciation will look like, b/c residuals will be independent of shiny red ARB tow hooks, Toyoguard Platinum, paint protectants, bed steps, chrome exhaust tips, and on and on…

What would you guys do if you were in my shoes? Apparently Kendall Toyota of Anchorage does not really negotiate at all on most of their vehicles because theyre the only game in town and they know it. I was quoted $2500 to ship a Tacoma from Seattle to Anchorage via boat. Do you think it would be worth the time and money to try and find a better deal somewhere in Washington and then have it shipped up? I live just a few minutes outside of Anchorage but am based out of Seattle for my job with an airline so I frequently am down there and it wouldn't be hard to do. Just wondering If I would lose the savings in having the vehicle shipped up. Also then risk it being damaged in transport etc. I'm also not sure how taxes work in that case. We don't have any sales tax in Anchorage.

Looking for a TRD-Off road premium package DCSB Hybrid in Underground or Bronze Oxide. Kinda hoping they come out with a cavalry blue or army green again.
