Yea turned the lights out around 10 last night and heard it coming down. Wasn't expecting it to keep going off and on into this morning. Today is the only warmish day for a while and I REALLY need to mow, but man it's going to be moist....

Tomorrow and Tuesday are gonna be too cold for me to get out there and do it. Looks like it's gonna be a jungle by next week, where I'll have too much shit going on then!

RE Poll: I've had the same 16" Ryobi Home Depot special for years. Abuse the shit out of it and cut stuff I'm really not supposed to. Finally just about burned it up a bit ago helping a friend cut up a tree. I have an entire Echo line so that's what I'll probably replace it with...



There's plenty of chainsaw snobs out there, but I might use mine a couple times a year.

 

Who knows what it in that dispensary weed . And the gummies …. Forget it . My stuff is all organic

 

Yeah, most people aren't cutting enough firewood to heat their homes all Winter.

Personally, I like Echo
I have a weedeater and a 20" chainsaw from them.
They start every time.

As for the chainsaw, the chain tensioner stays put, so you aren't always screwing with it.
Compression is strong enough that you gotta brace yourself when yanking the pull cord.
Cleaning the air filter is quick and easy.
Plenty of powah!


There's something to be said for having just one brand...
Assuming you have somebody local that you trust for parts and service.

I used to run Stihl stuff, but the last Stihl weed-eater I bought I got rid of it after a couple months. I hated it that much. Tried out an Echo and have been completely satisfied with it. Bought an Echo blower and then when I bought my current house it had a ton of shrubs to trim so I bought an Echo gas hedge trimmer. I'm not NEAR man enough to run that thing a long time

Seed stash (Autos only ) that’s around 100 seeds .I have maybe 25 photo periods. I need to start a few of those inside soon . I’m going to start prepping for a small greenhouse addition to the garden next week . 10’x6’x6’ . The garden itself is 35x 50 .

 

So the hedge trimmer is a little heavy, is it?

Yeah, my Echo chainsaw is on the heavy side, it's pretty stout.


It's not surprising your cheap chainsaw burned up.
I did the same with several chainsaws before I decided to get something really good
Let's see... I had an Oregon (actually good but already old when I got it)...
McCullough, Homelite, another McCullough, Poulan, Poulan Pro, Homelite again.
None of them lasted more than a few seasons.

Cutting a lot of hardwood separates the serious chainsaws from the cheapies

Your old Stihl proves my point.
But 40 years is really something for a chainsaw

 

It isn't too heavy, but gets really awkward once you raise it above a certain point to cut the higher bushes. Does the job really good and is portable.

My saw isn't completely burned up, but there's definitely some compression loss when it gets really warmed up or worked over. Still sorta works for what I need it for. Right now everything is cleared off really good. It got a really good workout the past couple years.
