That aboy! I like to get mine to around 200 internal for a while so the fat and collagen render down. Then I rest it in my oven at 170 for a few hours. Brisket is good even if it's bad haha

That’s perfect! The lower the amount you get back or pay in the better. Also, once you start filing and still in the workforce, it’s best to stay under the radar by filing every year. :oldglory:
See above. What you get back amounts to an interest free loan to the gubmint…. It’s always nice not to have to pay though :spending:
    Nothing wrong with that unless:
    1) It’s a hardship and you don’t plan for it, or
    2) You’re late and have to pay penalties…:oldglory:

This concludes todays edition of “Tax Planning Tips” :hattip:

I’m adding sump pump repair to my list of abilities. Motor and switch still worked, so I opened it up. Impeller came loose.

I just took one of those to the scrap yard

Water softener brine somehow drained back down and trashed the internals. They had the sump pump tied to the septic tank which was a no-no o_O

If your sump pump goes off a lot don’t waste your money on this. Had one and 3 years after install it failed. Flooded my basement. Put a new switch on it 2 years later the motor quit. Caught this in time and had just a little clean up.

The other thing I don’t like about this style pump is if the switch fails, you have to disconnect the pump and pull it out of the pit ( if it’s full of water like mine was) to change it. I rather have one that the switch is separate from the pump and plugs into an outlet and the pump plugs into the back of that. You can literally change that switch in 2 minutes and don’t have to touch the pump.

If there is a check valve on the output it is stuck open or there isn't one.

Either will allow water to spin the impeller backwards when the pump shuts off.

Since the pump goes from "on" to a rapid reverse it loosens the impeller.

Check valve should be as close to the pump as practical.

Our first one came with the house, I'm no plumber so I didn't understand how the pump and water softener works. The backwash discharge was sent to the sump pit originally. It's pretty dry 5 out of 12 months. The salty water ate that thing up and it seized in 2018.

After I got a plumber's quote, I decided to learn and fix it myself. Ended up replaced the very undersized softener and built a whole house filtration system with RO for drinking water and fridge ice maker, and new water heater, new Zoller sump pump with battery backup. All about $2500.

I rerouted the softener discharge to the sewer line with p-trap after air gap, no more salty water in the sump pit. So far, so good.
