My wife had that, was in bed for several days. Son and I got the cough/snot end of it, daughter has been fine.

Not a damn, thing! Still recovering. Random shit can cause a coughing fits that makes me need a nap. Fucking colds can kiss my ass!

ohhhh,Kaay!

Finally got caught up with the random, regular stuff that takes place around the home. Getting a resperatory infection for 2 weeks doesnt knock you back 14 days, more like 5 weeks!

Anywaaaays!

Got to spens a couple hours on the 2nd boat today anf it felt great!

Bottom welding is done. Was able to flip the boat up on it's side so I could weld the inner bow/floor seams. The lift table really makes the job much more tolorable. I don't care who you are, welding a 16' bead is work! Being able to lift the work to a comfortable height just makes the job much more easy.

I welded in the 2nd layer for the drain plugs. Because of the "bananna" shape of these boats, getting rid of water takes some extra effort. You can always be assure that leaves will blow into the boat and block the drain hole. We combat that by installing 2 drain plugs.

The floor is only 1/8" thick. We strengthen this it by welding a second patch where the drain resides. We now have a 1/2" thick plate where the plugs reside.

Those guys that are under 40 really wont be able to appreciate how handy an adjustable work bench really is.

Was able to get 7/8 of the inside bottom welding done before I ran dry of wire in the spool gun. I made it twice as far as I was planning, so I called that good and called it a day.

Rang up the wife sand asked if I could take her to lunch. Her response was a hard "yes"!

Taking a break from boat building.

Gonna play around with some zero turn mowers.

Been rebuilding these commercial units for the last 5 springs. They are easy to work on and can be found for a decent price.

Rebuilding a deck today.

Stripped all hardware, wire wheeled all the rust spots and gave it a coat of paint. I usually do 3 coats.

 

Mostly done with the hardware on the deck. Still need to source anti- scalp rollers.

Like normal, I'm easily distracted. The wife and I love to troll the FBMP to see what is out there.

I came across this 15 year old John Deere ZT. As you know, I like rehabbing these things. I usually Stick to Toro or Exmark.

This JD was in my wheel house for repairs. These are good quality chassis' that can go thru several engines before the chassis and hydro's are scrap. I tossed out an offer. Seller accepted and my wife and I headed out for a 3hr road trip The next day.

I'm the 3rd owner. As far as I can tell, the unit blew a head gasket. 25.5 hp Kawasaki. The 2nd owner got in over his head by trying to fix the HG.

These units absolutely need the engine removed from the chassis to do any upper end engine repairs. I think they got tired of fighting the front pto. I'm sure some can do the repair, but the 20 minutes to pull the engine will save you 3 hours. Hence, they put it on the market.

I've got the engine on the bench. The lower end and cylinders seems to be fine. I can't really assess the total picture until I install HG's and do a leak down test. I hope the rings are decent. HG's will be here next week.

I was able to test the hydro's with my cordless drill today. The pump(s) are turning the wheel motors just fine. I refer to the hydraulic pump as "pump'(s)" because there are 2 hydro pumps in one housing. The 2 pumps are driven by 1 input pulley and shaft.

If oil and filter are changed at the proper intervals, the Kansaki hydro pump is a robust unit.

Another surprising event. The seller did not feel it was necessary to inform me that the unit come with an Easy-Vac debris vacuum and hoppers. These are the best leaf removal systems out there. They work awesome. They are a bit bulky. I'll call that a bonus.

It's been sitting in a chicken coop for 6 months. It looks and smells like ass. The seat is going to be the 1st thing that gets launched. I did pressure wash the chassis to make it easier to figure out what else needed to be done to it.

Got this unit close to being done.

Gotta hella vibe from the deck. I'm thinking I got a blade or 2 way out of balance. Got the mower back on the hoist. Pulled the blades and will balance tomorrow.

 

Got the heads and the block cleaned up on this Kawasaki. Found another gouge in the block. I'm hoping it's far enough from the bore that it's not an issue.

Kind of sucks. I gotta spend $40+ the time to put it together to find out if this motor is savable.

Update on the mower: Motor runs on the bench, but have not got it running in the chassis. Waiting on a PTO switch. Power runs thru the PTO switch then to the key switch. The switch show up Sunday:

Meanwhile, the wife and I went to a few garage sales out in the country. Truck was parked on the side of the road while checking out the sale.

There goes $300.

Get this.

The mirror was broke yesterday. Got on the horn right away and ordered a new mirror assembly. My dealer can get parts the next day.

Picked up the mirror assembly this morning.

Took it out of the box...and they sent me the passenger side! On the phone i went. Proper one is to be here tommow morning.
