Adding a check valve to the discharge will be a cheap way to insure you don't have to do this again.

At my way back job we had 100 HP pumps, a bad check valve caused all sorts of bad things to happen.

The power house was three floors up - when water started dumping down on the production area below they called us pretty quickly.

Question on that sump discharge, when it angles and goes up the wall, what is the Y pipe for?

I would guess that’s the vent and the Y allows draw from room as well.

I would think water would come out the end of it being after the check valve.

not really, i'm expecting $250 state and $480 federal, but it seems to be the lowest amount out of everyone i know, most of which file as married. the majority get a number with a comma back, and then complain about how little it is. my brother got something like $4k back with being married and having 3 kids, and then sat there and belly-ached about it for a whole month at how little he got. at least until i laughed and offered to trade.

back when i lived in illinois but worked in indiana, i had to make quarterly payments to the state to keep from having to write a large check at the end of the year, and only got federal back.

fun fact, every year as i'm filling out the forms to send off to the accountant to finish, i always end up googling if i can claim 'head of household' with the dog as a dependent-- because he would actually die without me. you can't. and i never remember i checked until next tax season when i google it again.

That is a very sexy setup! :101010:

I don't think my softener drain line was ever hooked up in the sump, but it wept past the sump's backflow valve. They should have never put the sump discharge into the main drain. My basement usually doesn't get water so if there's water in there my septic drain field would have been screwed at that point and adding more water to it... :bananadead:

There wasn't even a trap, so I can only imagine the funk. This is what my drain used to go into, you can see it sloped backwards. I got a nasty surprise when I disconnected it all :puke:

Obviously did this to the sump pump

Re-routed the softener drain line and added a trap

It was just interesting to me all the different situations. Got a co-worker who files married usually pays in to federal every year. I've just been claiming "0" all these years and seems to work out. Guess some people are claiming "1" and have less tax taken out.

I have to make quarterly local tax payments. Since I work in Maryland and live in Pennsylvania they do not take local out of my check. 1% annual income before 401K :bananadead:

    it looks horrible!

i propose you immediately dispose of that waste-of-meat into the prize warehouse before its effects alter your family behavior. if family members start chewing excessively, talking less during meals, or act sluggish either during the meal or afterwards, i'm afraid the effects will become irreversible.

You’re doing it right. Everyone else around you bragging about how much they got is doing it wrong. The goal is to pay the least amount of tax legally allowable.

Can they tell you what percent of their income they’re paying in taxes?

    ‘Morning everyone :hattip:

    Monday morning manly men :hattip:

Today marks the birthday of a man who needs no introduction, James Garner (1928-2014)

    robs-movie-muscle-the-pontiac-firebirds-from-the-rockford-files-2021-03-26_15-56-44_443466.jpg

Althought his career spanned 60 years of film, television & theater perhaps his best known role is that of wise cracking, fast driving private investigator Jim Rockford in The Rockford Files.

The best PI/Police show of all time IMO. :)

Garners Rockford was far different from many 60's-80's TV "heros":

    The police didn't like him
    People frequently didn't pay him
He had a habit of mouthing off to the wrong people
The bad guys crashed his car, trashed his place and kicked his @$$ regularly

He did his own stunts and driving, he took training in a Formula 1 race car for an earlier movie that sparked an interest it racing.

You can't mention the program without touching on the Firebird, depicted as a bottom of the line "Esprit" model (due to Rockford's low income) they were actually dressed down "Formula" models with 400 cubic inch engines and handling suspension. The color was not a GM option, it was chosen as was the car by Garner himself.

my sump goes off once every minute and a half in wet weather
no problem here with a sump pump failure or power loss, as I have a zoeller water powered back-up pump as well, a battery back up wouldnt last but mebbe a 1/2 hour when the water starts to flow, there should be fish in the system, yet I aint seant any...yet

Mine goes off every minute at its wettest point. Usually the month of April but bone dry by end of May. I bought a battery back up probably 18 years ago and then the all in one system a few years ago. Other than me pushing the test button every now and then it’s never gone off. That’s ok though, I tell myself I bought a piece of mind!
