While they are squeaky walking. I LOVE my Gaerne Fastback Enduros. Such a comfy booth that has TONS of support everywhere. I won't ever buy another dirtbike boot.

Turbod super moto .... Oh yeah I'd be in jail

That was my WR250X Turbo'd by MP Fab years ago. Was a hell of ride but tuning was a constant nightmare. I moved onto this instead.

    Couple of noob questions:
Alarm and or lock? My bike is stored in the garage, but if I take it to the store or gym, I want it safe.

Backpack suggestions and what to carry in it?

    Never did anything tbh.

Disc lock would be the easiest

You have a cruiser right? Get a sissy bar on the back (even if no passenger) and grab the viking bag backpack for the sissy bar. I use it on my bolt and love it! This is how I run it when I'm riding solo.

For the lock or alarm can't help you there... I've got nothing and if it gets stolen we'll I got insurance lol

I don’t think either is really going to deter a person who wants to steal it. I don’t run either. But i also live in the middle of nowhere. Shit most of the time I don’t even lock my handlebars and that’s just clicking the key one more position..

On the backpack question i have a strong preference towards kriega bags and their quad lock and quad lock lite chest clips. They don’t move. I have a Trail 18 that i used to daily before I got a more professional looking Chrome Industries messenger style bag. I had one with a roll top, which held a ton but wasn’t easy to get big things in and out, it had a narrow opening.

I usually kept ear plugs, visine, a spare set of contacts, a microfiber, a small bungie net, a rokstrap, and if going on a long ride water bladder (it has holes to run the hose down the strap) and a tool roll to deal with whatever could be realistically fixed on the road. Basic sockets, wrenches, cable repair pieces, tire plugs, gaff tape, electrical tape, fuses, zip ties, etc. And real long ride id throw a tire pump in, too.

    Oh, and snacks.

Really depends on your area. Some areas I ride to yeah absolutely I have a minimum of a disc lock alarm and never leave my helmet, other places I'll leave my keys in the ignition.

That stated better be safe than sorry. Get a lock and use it consistently.

Twaz a PERFECTLY beautiful day here in socal so a ride was in order after yesterday being responsible and getting stuff done around the house... Which included an oil/filter change and rear gear oil change on the super tenere. Also greased pivot points (levers, shifter, rear brake).

Literally 71*f +- 2 deg along the coast from Malibu back to Ventura with just the right amount of breeze to make it not sun bearing down on you hot. The scenery down at Zuma beach was easily 8:1 female to male and everyone was getting their tan on... Needless to say the sights were beautiful today.

Just make sure you have good insurance and don’t worry about it. If someone wants to steal it they will. JMO which doesn’t mean sh$&.

Pictures and TV really don't do the elevation changes justice. The hill up to turn 1 is nuts when you are standing at the top of it looking down. Also the downhill leading in to the hairpin turn 11, it looks almost flat on TV but it most definitely isn't.

I always lock my steering and leave it in gear pointed at a barrier of some kind. It's not perfect, but no security is.

As others said, I don't leave my helmet where it can be snagged. Paid too damn much money to let some scumbag swipe it.

Alarms can present their own set of issues if not properly installed. Draws at least some battery when in use so can cause premature battery drain. Disc lock is about the simplest other than just locking your forks. Make sure to always remember to remove the disc lock before getting on the bike or you could end up very sorry and needing to go buy new mirrors or other bike parts in addition to the embarrassment you'll suffer. Most I do anymore is to lock my forks. With any of this all you're really doing is keeping honest people honest. A professional thief will get your bike if they really want it.

Not a fan of backpacks myself but I tend to ride greater distances than average. I have several magnetic tank bags which I use and a tail mount bag that is easily removed. On local rides I always have a micro fiber cloth and a small spray bottle of face shield cleaner, an old 35mm film container with some ibuprofen, tylenol, and benadryl in it, a tire pressure gauge, a small tin with some bandaids, antiseptic cream, and some burn ointment. Those items are always packed in my tankbag and I go through them at the start of each riding season and replace any out of date stuff and refill my spray bottle.

Even when I was moto commuter in Chicago, have never owned a lock. Lock the forks occasionally and usually take my helmet, unless I'm with a group of bikes and then I'll hang it on the high side pillion peg.

Bags: The type of bike you have and where you ride can have a big impact here. There are some great tank bag options, but it's not right for every type of bike. Same with tail bags. I'm a huge 25 year fan of Chrome messenger bags, they don't move on your torso at all, the weight is carried lower on your back than a backpack and they're comfortable off the bike. Great in an Urban environment where you want to leave nothing with your bike. Agreed that backpack openings are wider and more convenient.

I've got a simple tool pouch under seat on my bikes, and usually have a leatherman on my hip, so unless it's a multi day trip, I don't carry additonal tools.Water, rok straps. tube plugs.

lens wipes. I have those things everywhere, glove box of the truck, work bag, bike bag, jacket pockets...great for shades and moto helmet visors.

    upload_2025-4-7_10-24-24.png

Dating yourself with this one, my friend. But I'm the vintage to appreciate it. Those things are fantastic. Salt n pepper tops for camping, change (another artifact) lol. Good call!

you outta go to work for the tourism/realtor council.

Brilliant. no reason not too. Cheap and could change everything.
