Air tags alert the person stealing too afaik. And they only work if theres an iphone in vicinity.

Great idea but to my understanding they arent completely useful

Slowly working our way up. Longest ride yet. Was about 83 miles round trip per the Google. Headed from Kent down to Frontier Park in Graham for a picnic. Never actually been before, but seemed like a good destination.

I just strapped a tool bag I had on the back of my bike with some bungies and a kayak strap. Decided I better hurry up and buy something a little easier to tie down. Ordered this guy. I liked that it doubles as a backpack. And while I want more luggage, this should be fine for a long time. Doubt we'll be doing any overnights off the bikes this year.

Now my wife is also trying to figure out what she wants for luggage. She really likes the idea of a sissy bar and a bag that just slips onto it, but dang, I hate the look of most of the bars available. But, it's her bike, lol. If she likes it, I should probably just deal with it. I really like the Vulcan Saddlebags, and $400 isn't bad. Trying to convince her to get those.

First. Congrats and I'm jealous of you for having a GF that wants her own bike, and I agree...make her happy. BUT- I have a similar - I say similar- style bike, and for day rides I've landed on a tank bag as the best option. It keeps that back end clean, you don't even know it' there when your riding, it can be made to double as a phone mount/charge port. I looked for older posts...what exactly are those bikes you guys are riding? Givi and SW Motech make tank bags that mount to a ring you install at the gas cap, so it's a positive mechanical mount, no magnets or straps required. Very slick. easy click on/off at the gas pump or lunch spot.

this is an example of a GIVI style ring. They sell them in nylon. I know a guy who machined them from aluminum for this style of bike specifically. Same exact product, only metal appearance instead of black, which would go with her bike

The Wiki page for the track has a really cool description of how it was designed using elements of lots of different international circuits:

In an episode of Speed TV's Wind Tunnel program broadcast on August 22, 2010, Tavo Hellmund revealed that the circuit would be 3.426 miles (5.514 km) long and would be made up of twenty turns with an elevation change of 133 feet (41 m). The final plan of the circuit was released on September 1, 2010, showing a design inspired by the European tradition of sculpting the circuit to the contours of the land. The design draws from several European Formula One circuits, including a recreation of Silverstone's Maggotts–Becketts–Chapel sequence, Hockenheim's arena bends, and a replica of Istanbul's Turn Eight.[59] Other corners were loosely inspired by the Senna 'S' at Interlagos,[8] Turn 4 at the Buddh International Circuit and Turns 9-10 at Bahrain, the latter two tracks also designed by Tilke. A feature of the circuit is a deliberate widening of corners, to encourage drivers to follow multiple racing lines.[60] A similar feature was used at the Buddh International Circuit in India, where the circuit widens on the approach to certain corners.

The circuit was one of only a handful on the Formula One 2012 calendar to be run counter-clockwise, the others being Marina Bay, the Korea International Circuit, Yas Marina, and Interlagos. Because of this, the circuit contains more left-hand turns than right-hand ones, placing greater physical demands on the drivers whose bodies, particularly their necks, are more adapted to the lateral g-forces of clockwise circuits.

From the start line, the drivers climb a gradient of over 11% to the first corner called Big Red—the highest point of the circuit—with the apex of the corner positioned on the crest of the hill, similar to Turn 4 of India. They then take a downhill right-hander inspired by the Senna 'S' of Interlagos before climbing back up the side of the hill to navigate a series of fast sweepers modeled on Silverstone's Maggotts–Becketts–Chapel complex, which is turns 3-6 at COTA. These sweepers tighten through turns 7-9, while continuing the esses, but slowing the cars down substantially, requiring drivers to downshift to 4th gear and through a blind corner at Turn 10. This corner takes them to the far end of the circuit and a hairpin at Turn 11 where the drivers then follow a 0.62-mile (1.00 km) straight back towards the pit and paddock area. This straight leads to the final sector of the lap with a heavy braking zone and a sequence of corners inspired by the arena bends of Hockenheim, to Turns 9 and 10 of Bahrain, a corner that significantly tightens in the second part, requiring drivers to brake and turn at the same time. This is followed by a downhill, multi-apex corner with limited run-off modeled after turn 8 at Istanbul Park, before the final two corners of the circuit, a pair of left-hand bends that return the drivers to the main straight.

We've looked into tank bags for her. I LOVE mine. Most of the ones that seem like they wouldn't be in the way (for her 5'3" self) are pretty tiny. Her leg bag holds more. Reasonable sized ones that mount on the tank via mounts like you showed, she either doesn't like the look, or they'd block her view of the speedo (we mocked up some using my bag and some other stuff).

By the way, she loves this hip bag thing. She wanted to try one, so bought a dirt cheap one on temu for proof of concept before dropping more money. It's actually held up great. She used to leave her purse EVERYWHERE, and now uses this instead and never forgets it. Now what she's looking for is something that would hold a blanket, weekend of clothes, picnic lunch, water bottles, etc.

Careful with those on your visors. The IPA in them can "melt" your visor and make it foggy over time.

Full coverage. Idk. Cover it for the value you see in it. just an agreed value with your insurance. Ive done it multiple times

Ya know I hate this sentiment. While I do have insurance that covers theft as its a necessary evil to be covered.... the whole "lets just leave my house unlocked I have insurance that will cover the loss" is such an odd thing. Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, if you can pop a 50$ disc lock alarm on your bike and the thief goes, meh not worth my time and moves onto the next bike you just saved yourself a crap ton of headaches and TIME - the most valuable asset.

The thing with a lock is you will never know if it protected you.

I use a different brand,I'm an android user anyways. It's more for the immediate 30 or so minutes after, I'd rather not file an insurance claim if it'd be easier to just go run a thief over, er I mean call the proper authorities

Well you said money. Id rather be compensated fairly for what is very likely to never get back

My Ducati has more value in the aftermarket parts than the bike is worth. I'd rather not have to argue with an insurance company on that

    That's the problem with insurance.

We're enthusiasts they're just number crunchers. Book value on my Buell is abysmal but go find me one in similar condition. Aftermarket parts and add ons you'll be lucky if you see half of their value and zero for the labor required to install them.

I could be wrong, but I believe with some insurance companies you can have a pre-agreed upon additional value insured to make up the difference on mods, parts, etc.

No telling how hard it would be to reach the value needed since it'd be case by case, but.

Absolutely. Its easy. You say you want xxxx amount and they may ask for documentation or what you added and then negotiate if not.
