The bumper is back on. All done.

It actually matches very well. As of right now I can't tell the difference in color. Its a little overcast this morning so we will see when the sun comes out how well it matches.

Wow! That turned out pretty good! How durable is the paint on the chrome?

Not sure...we will see how it holds up. I prepped it pretty well and used some good self etching primer ($17 a can!). It has 3 coats of primer, 3 coats of base, and 2 coats of clear (clear was sprayed with 1 medium coat and one heavy coat)

    DO IT!

OBTW FYI for everyone. I only used 1.5 cans of the silver paint on the bumper. I bought extra because I plan on color matching my mirrors and door handles in the very near future.

Wow that turned out great man... even if it turns out in the sun it's not perfect it's hella more perfect than chrome :D

Man I wanna pick one of these guns up and a decent compressor now.... kinda inspires confidence that I might be able to paint my 280z myself :D

Edit: I'd paint my truck's but I'm going AllPro anyway lol...

It's a paint spray gun using High Volume Low Pressure. It takes time and practice to do a good job.

Just wondering how this paint job has held up for you?

Also, does anyone know if an electric random orbital sander would work good for prepping this? Can an electric ROS even be used for wet sanding?

I want to do my chrome bumper in black, but I have neither the knowledge nor the tools at the moment. But I'm not going to let that stop me (probably).

This turned out very well. If I had the skills I might have done this kind of color match, but instead just plastidipped black.
