Soooo…. Another piece of junk! I went to install it & nope. It just wouldn’t. Thought I must not be holding it straight. Nope. Back to the “bench” (my garage floor, kitchen counter….), ran my finger around the inner inlet & felt a burr or whatever you wanna call it.
    Those were Dormans.
    Ordered a Pioneer…. It’ll be here Tuesday….

Just for laughs I went to Toyota Parts Deal to look up a crankshaft pulley for my 03 DC 3.4L engine.
Toyota wants over $500 dollars for it. Wow, they are proud of their parts, that's for sure.
good luck Kristi with a K. you've put more work into your Tacoma than most people would have done. Kudos.

    Lame.
You may be able to file the burr down.

Maybe. It also looks a little dinged. I did just look up the pioneer though & failed to notice it’s only a one year warranty, whereas the Dorman is lifetime. Makes me wonder if I should order two or three dormans & hope one is ok….

That was Toyota parts deals. They have a little more of a discount than dealers. Not sure about ship time. Great site a lot to verify fitment by vin.

    & it’s 547.00 if I pick it up locally

Just ordered two more Dormans. So tomorrow I’ve got those & one pioneer coming….

I called Dorman to express my disappointment. He claimed to not have had any complaints since 2020. When I told him the dinged one looked like it might have been used, he tried to blame it on Auto Zone. I looked at the box & it was shipped directly from Dorman (it states right on the AZ site that it ships from manufacturer), so that shut him up. He does want me to send pics.

Noooo…. Just hopin at least one will work. I am a defective parts magnet! I shoulda ordered four to start with….

This is my local dealer if I were to buy online & pick it up or free shipping. As you can see, it is discounted like 25% off MSRP. But I gotcha that the dealers do free shipping. It actually ends up being cheaper to go non-dealer. & sure, that’d be great if there was an additional discount.

Yes it is, I saved that Info for a later date. Might want to reconsider the Doorman and take a peak at this one.

Do you know/have good relationship with a Bodyshop near your local?

I know a few…this is how I get OE parts

I got sick of (Houston) toy parts (2 diff dealerships) charging OVER retail for parts when picking up by buyer
Retail price $5.61 for O-ring….i go to pay at parts counter….charging $8.31!
The last straw was an AC compressor for friends matrix….parts counter wanted over $175 more than RETAIL PRICE
    I asked counter guy why?
“Bc that’s our price….u want it?”

    soooooo
I got one of my bodyshops to order OE Toyota parts. Then I pick up at said bodyshop and get Shop Price(I have to pay tax and I always buy shop friend lunch.
I’d rather pay friend extra and keep a good thing going rather pay parts counter ahole.

lemme reiterate…..I’m sure not every Toy parts dept acts this way
    Maybe just a Hou thing

    That light weight pulley
Had some experience with them in my ‘young stupid bolt on HP Subaru days’

    didn’t do anything for HP
However, everyone I knew(including myself) noticed that HL’s would dim at idle

i will let someone else explain why

    1999-2001 era
Bought for $75 and sold for $50
Unk if any issues for taco use

The more I looked into it, the less tempted I am. There could be potential risks I'm not willing to take. There are varying opinions out there, however I've put a lot of work into the truck & it is my DD.

I did a lot of cruizin around, different toyota forums, searched on here, etc. Like I stated, some say no worries, some say no worthwhile benefit, others questioned if it's why their engines had major issues....

    Here's a nutshelled AI Google "response" -
While lighter crankshaft pulleys can offer potential performance gains by reducing rotating mass, they also introduce drawbacks like increased engine harmonics, potential for overheating, and reduced alternator output, which could negatively impact overall engine health and reliability.

@CrippledOldMan - tagging you since you expressed interest in this part
