I had a 99 Ranger very similar - regular cab, short box, same color, 4 cylinder, 5 speed, 2wd.

It was a great little commuter/run around/workhorse truck, really sad that real "mini trucks" aren't available anymore. Cheap, tough & reliable they were used for delivering everything from auto parts to pizzas and nicely satisfied the "mom has the family car & dad has his truck" demographic.

My MAC buddy who is retiring is in deal mode now. I stopped by to see him yesterday and left with another pile of goodness.

The 6 ton jack stands and pliers set we traded for a cart he wants me to build for his sander, like the 3 I recently made for his table saw and other wood tools.

These 1/4" and 3/8" stubby ratchets, $20 each.

    upload_2025-4-9_7-14-37.jpg

This pile here he gave it to Cole, the long magnets are super strong. He gave me 2 of each of those, some for me as well.

That's a 1/2" drive metric socket set. He said the nut drivers are probably 30 years old, brand new. Some standard and some metric.

    upload_2025-4-9_7-15-32.jpg

He had a box and told me I could get what I wanted out of it. The long handled hose removers were in there.

    upload_2025-4-9_7-16-54.jpg

I have a MAC air wrench I bought from him in the 1990's for $225, nothing wrong with it and I didn't need another one, or two.

    upload_2025-4-9_7-17-50.jpg

When he told me $50 each, I couldn't pass it up. Gave my other one to Cole when I got home.

    upload_2025-4-9_7-18-45.png

$50 for these calipers, I wouldn't use them at work but at home they will be great.

    upload_2025-4-9_7-19-18.jpg

I owe him some more money now, hopefully everything will be gone when I go back to pay him :anonymous:

It is like the auctioneers say "buy 'em when you find 'em". Nice haul! :fistbump:

    Using the same logic...

I heard the UPS truck at 6:30 last night.

    (Yet another) Autolite 4100 carburetor.

    20250409_072105.jpg

Since these weren't installed much past 1966 I buy them if they are cheap just to have the parts.

:gossip: ...and seeing as Mrs Green was napping on the couch I didn't want to wake her up to mention it... :burp:

I've spent more money on tools in the last month than I have in years. I told my wife I'll never be able to buy Mac tools this cheap again.

He's got some more stuff I'd like to have but it's more than I can justify after buying everything else.

One thing is a nice large tap and die set for $300, it list for $599

...well, you could put it on the taxes as a business expense. :notsure:

That bump out at the bottom right looks like a nice place to set up for auto work. Bench, boxes, maybe a cabinet for detailing…. Rotate the car in you’re working on.

Agree, it might just save the day sometime.

It isn't like you can zip down to the local pick n pull and grab these anymore. :pout:

I had like 30 carbs under my bench at the shop. I would overhaul them and modify the problem areas. So they sat waiting. Quick swap and off they would go. Had to explain before I did it why they were getting charged overhaul hours and parts for a 30 min turn around. It was their choice.

4340 material turned alright. Print specified "no tool marks" so I had to do a little sanding.
