    @whtmtngrv
The "Tush Push" is really only successfully run by the Eagles. That being the case, I vote "keep it in and keep it legal". Obviously they've figured something out other teams have not. Good for them. Other teams either have to figure out how to stop or master running it, too.

Now if a bunch of teams were doing it SUCCESSFULLY, then you have a situation that would need to be regulated because it makes the game boring & predictable (like the old PAT that was successful 99% of the time. Why bother? That's why they made the PAT a longer distance, to add some difficulty and drama.)

Sadly, word is Goodell doesn't like it and wants it gone. He didn't have the votes at this time to ban it (only 15 owners were on his side & it takes 22 to make the change) so they 'tabled' the issue for a later time to give Goodell time to twist some arms and negotiate to get his way. Booh! KEEP THE TUSH PUSH.

Also, the 18 game season is supposedly a done deal, too, and much as I love football, I'm opposed to yet another regular season game. Guys couldn't stay healthy thru a 16 game season but we added a game anyway. Come playoff time, teams were so beat up (hey Lions!) they couldn't really compete. It's not good for the game. With a 16 game season, every game meant something. Heck, up until 1981, they only played 14 regular season games...even better! Talk about each game carrying some weight. That's what makes football interesting - each game matters. Baseball and basketball play so many games, who even really watches or cares until the playoffs arrive?

I worry Goodell is slowly killing the NFL in pursuit of ever greater profits for the billionaire owners. But that's what he is paid to do. Greed ruins all good things eventually. Enjoying it while it lasts!

Goodell is a douche. I saw it on a flag on my friend's small bus

Maybe they think it looks like rugby. You know, cause it does. If the defense can’t give an assist to a player trying to block a FG then the offense shouldn’t be able to shove a guy over the line. They turn a blind eye to what randomly happens on running plays but having a designed play is pushing the blinders aside. It reminds me of a toy we had as a kid that had a vibrating field that made the plastic players move. About as exciting as it sounds. Similarly, there’s nothing to see, there is no “play”, just a scrum and the NFL is most definitely about being seen.

I've read that 18 games wouldn't happen until at least 2027. They are hashing out two bye weeks, expanded rosters, bigger practice squads, a bigger piece of the league revenue pie and other big money stuff.

Lol. I had that game too. The board vibrated and the players just vibrated randomly or fell down. I think the QB chucked a little felt ball that never hit the target if I remember it right.

Does anyone else remember an early 90s NFL board game that involved fast-forwarding and rewinding a VHS tape to show plays based on the cards you drew? I remember playing it at a friend's house sometime around the time his entire family inexplicably became Cowboys fans, so it had to have been 92 or 93 when it was a thing.

(He should have came over to my place and played Tecmo!)

Good to know. Another bye week and more players on the roster & practice squad helps, somewhat. But there are only so many top tier QBs, WRs, RBs, linemen, and TEs. When they go down, the product suffers.

History tells us 18 games will become 19 games, then 20 games and the 'creep' to keep adding games will go on as it means more revenue for TV broadcasters, the owners, and Goodell. That's why I'd like to see the Players Association (NFLPA) draw a hard line in the sand and say "No more games". Player injuries are already hurting the onfield product and negatively impacting people's lives. CTE, knee injuries, and shoulder injuries linger forever into retirement.

They said Joe Montana could barely walk at one point, his knees were so screwed up. We all know what happened to Junior Seau. (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/junior...se-cte-when-he-committed-suicide-study-shows/) We don't need more of that.

17 games is already one too many. But money talks and that's the bottom line to adding games.

Hey, in case I haven't said it enough to you guys...GO HAWKS!

That was it. The ball was a little piece of white felt. I think you could attempt to kick also. We ended up playing more with folded paper and finger flicks.

I kinda remember one where you picked an offensive play and the opponent picked a defense and the board determined the outcome, maybe spin a dial?

Yeah, it was something like that. I want to say score was just tracked on paper?

Honestly I can barely remember it. Most toys & games were unpowered or youpowered back then. Lots of ping pong, wiffle ball, & getting humiliated by 2 older bros playing basketball. Ping pong morphed into an immersive 3D version since the walls were in range of the table and you could get some crazy angle shots.

This is very true with the player tier. And yes, there's going to be the rush to return that year moreso with more games I fear.

I think 17 is one too many at the moment, though I guess there's an argument of eliminating the true 500 season?

And sadly, money does talk..and it's still flowing in so why change?

It is how the NFL market works for QB's...even the ones you perceive as less than average.

It’s amazing that proven flops get contracts while guys like Brock won’t even get a chance. Sure, he’s an outlier but I’d rather take a flier on a long shot from a small program than pay through the nose for a self inflicted pie-in-the-face. Granted, it can sometimes take years to turn a college QB into a functioning pro so maybe they believe he just hadn’t matured yet. Sometimes you really are what you are though.

Look at all the QBs taken in the draft before TFB. Nuff said.

That is exactly what happened to Brock. 32 Teams passed on him and most passed on him 7 times. QB is the most unpredictable position to determine future success...which is why they are paid much.

I’d just as soon see them spend the money on linemen so the starter isn’t getting hammered than on a known basket case. The best way to improve QB play is to give them more time. Granted, guys like Jim Drukenmiller could never figure it out but in general it holds true.

The Niners have a hard time with the concept of beef on the line. The Eagles have Gladiators 6'6'' 330 give or take a pound or two and golly, the QB has time to read the field without dining on sod or getting carted off the field. I'm confident though that Lynch and company will put their priorities elsewhere.
