I have a 2017 tacoma with jbl stereo system. I replaced the stock jbl stereo with an android head unit and everything was working great.

I recently installed a full audio system with dual amps, new speaker wires, rca cables, component speakers, and a sub.

Got everything working except i now have no steering wheel controls and the rearview camera doesnt work when shifting into reverse.

I can manually switch the head unit to show the rear view camera but will not show rear camera when shifting into reverse.

I tried putting my stock jbl stereo back in and still no steering wheel controls or rear camera when shifting into reverse.

Im at a loss and not sure what i should check. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Update!!!!! Fixed the problem. I missed a connection, everything works fine now...:annoyed:

Do you have reverse lights, are any fuses blown?

I know it was a long time ago but do you remember what connection you missed? I have the same exact problem after installing a full sound system. Pulling my hair out right now. Took everything apart multiple times and I cannot find anything unplugged.

I have a Joying Android head unit, 4 channel amp for the upgraded door speakers, monoblock amp for the dual 10 inch subs, RCA wires from head unit to amps, I ran the speaker outputs from the amp to the back of the radio and spliced into the head unit harness with banana jacks. The backup cam and steering wheel controls worked fine when I installed the head unit but now that I installed the sound system they don’t work. Cannot find anything that I forgot to plug in or that I connected wrong. I did not cut or splice into any of the factory wiring in the truck. No blown fuses. I’m at a loss ‍♂️

Well I took half my dash apart to find I did miss a connection. Probably the same connector OP missed. It fell WAY back into the dash and got tucked behind the climate control unit. There was some connections on the aftermarket radio harness that are supposed to be unused but I couldn’t remember if it was 2 or 3 so that sent me chasing my tail lol.

it should've been the larger 20?-ish pin connector?

I cant remember what specific connection it was.

The connection i did miss fell down into dash as I was connecting my head unit back up and I missed it causing my rear camera not to work.

Problem solved. The missing connection was buried under the steering wheel. Thank you for having me look again and dig deep
