Could anyone figure out or know why my stereo isn’t recognizing when I press the buttons on it except for the power? I’ve tried simple troubleshooting like cleaning the connections but I can’t even reset it. It will run through demo mode non stop.

Open up that user manual. Sony has them on their website - somewhere it will tell you troubleshooting steps.

Probably bad connection on the face plate. I'm through with single DIN head units. They're all 2000's tech. My Sony MEX-something died a year after I purchased, and the replacement has had it's scroll knob (rotary encoder) flunk out after only a few more so I cant even really regulate volume.

Mine resets after a battery pull though FWIW (also annoying asf)

Did you purchase this new or used?

Purchased it used almost 2 years ago and radio has never worked, I’m the third owner but I’m pretty convinced this isn’t the stock stereo system, which is why it’s not working right.

there you go. You have no idea what the condition of it is. Just purchase a new one with the connectors. That way your not guessing around
