I know Toyota would never do this. Make the Pro an option package on any Tacoma configuration and customizable. You order your DCLB OR than add the Pro package Toyota builds it and you get a DCLB Pro.

Actual hate seems to be a lot of butt hurt envy or jealousy and brand type parochial behavior.

Someone at a property where I do some work has the Pro. It's fine as a halo model and for an off road enthusiast who might use some features. It's not useful in light truck ways like my choice and pursuit of a lesser long bed model that does far more off road use than the guy I mention. That guy seems very happy with his purchase but it seems mostly from he just wanted that vehicle.

My cousin who got the new Land Cruiser and I actually like the hard plastics in all the interiors but we're not in the mall crawler or pavement pansy demographics. It can show some scratches but not puncture or tear. If we keep these rigs long enough not likely some splitting that sometimes occurs when a vehicle ages.

At this point I have close associates who own halo models down to base models of the new gen and platform (the other models). They all seem fine and Toyota still seems to stand behind their products.

What's the total price once it's done for the conversion? If you come out $10,000 ahead it may make sense especially if you keep it forever. It reminds me of Roush Mustangs, they decode as a regular GT Mustang so when you go to book one out or finance one it's $10,000-30,000 over book value so good luck financing one even if it's not a normal Mustang.

Toyota didn't build the Pro to sell a lot of them. They make up less than 1% of Tacoma sales. They wanted a really flashy truck for advertising to get people looking and talking about the truck and get them into the dealerships. Then they decide a different trim is better for them. Same with the PreRunner. They built the Xtracab for fleet sales but they make less PreRunners than Pros. It's just to get people going "that looks like the Toyota pickup I used to own". Then they go to the dealer and decide they want a different trim. Toyota and Ford know exactly what they are doing, Pros and Raptors are loss leaders to generate other sales. Clearly Toyota plays the game better.

just a couple of things tbh
so the price will vary heavily! so lets do three ways of doing it.

    1st
way of doing it is buying everything from ford.
you need gen 1 shocks front and rear-800 for rear shocks and 800 for front but no springs
gen 2 upper and lower control arms-uppers are 340 while lowers 1,176
gen 2 front coil spring or an aftermarket one but not one for the 6.2 since its a heavy boy-340
gen 1 top hat or spring mount-200
gen 1 cv axles are easier to find but from what i read gen 2 work as well-240
    and gen 2 tie rods-80
    brake lines-20
vaccum lines so its a lot of things- just go to an auto parts store and get a hose its just a rubber hose tbh.. so -10

eventually you will also want the body panels so gen 2 front and rear raptor fenders. you can do fiberglass since it might be cheaper but not as strong as oem.
rear axle-2-3k sometimes more depending on what people want for them.
    front diff-900ish

for buying everything from ford including shocks if they have them in stock. its going to run you about 3600ish from ford.
body panels buying from ford i think i saw the fenders were 800 per? and an axle and diff well those are also pricey!

according to one person they spent about 8500 on all oem ford parts from a dealer and took a 5.0 stx and made it into a raptor clone (this is including all body panels and front diff and axle).

    2nd
way of doing it. copart! and other websites where you buy a full vehicle and strip it down. this will vary thou so idk how much that will cost end total?

    3rd
way of doing it which is the way im doing it. buying everything from marketplace and from websites with totaled trucks and rockauto to get the parts i need. atm for the full suspension its going to cost me 1800 to buy everything but i will need to send out my shocks i have to be rebuilt or save some money and rebuild them my self. now body panels ill be going most likely fiberglass from mcniel racing since my truck is a 6.5ft bed i cant just use the oem raptor bed sides but i can use the oem front fenders. but with what i have priced out for my build im looking at roughly 4k to have a full mid travel build with a long bed. plus my truck is paid off and i only paid 21k for it. so saving money doing this vs buying a raptor plus long bed!

id also like to state im not doing this to really copy the raptor i just want a mid travel setup and its cheaper to do all the oem parts then it is to go aftermarket.

Yeah, I was going to get a 911 Turbo S but the back seat is basically unusable. It was a dealbreaker for me.

This why I bought mine. I like to be unique and have the income to do so. That is typically 1% of buyers. I don't regret a thing. I've had more compliments on my vehicle and questions than my Audi RS5 and my Buick Grand National combined. I guess it does what the marketing dept at Toyota scoped it to be.

My comment was based on "If you want a full size vehicle you're easily 70k-100k depending on what kind of deal you can find."

However, since you mentioned that. Lowest I see is a bare bones SR 2wd for $33xxx in Manchester. The full-size are all 4wd

Funny, I test drove a black on black stx f150 crewcab 4x4 with the 5.0 last week. They were asking around 50k, but the transmission was acting up and seemed to be slipping out of gear. Google searches show some potential issues/recall with the 10 speed. They had stx f150's with the small 2.7 v6 for around 40k.

My old 3rd gen Tacoma seems to be built better.

The Pro should not even exist in 2025. Between the OR and TH, the Pro is redundant and useless and by far the least value offering for the MSRP.

So only 33% cheaper for a stripper midsize vs a stripper full size. Maybe 25% for 4wd to 4wd.

    seems pretty reasonable

for another example: leather/softex seats were a minimum for me (surfer, so water ruins cloth). I got my OR premium for $51k. The minimum msrp on a 4-door f-150 with leather was $65k.

Most buyers would prefer a higher trim level with some options, hence 70k-100k price ranges.

Yep. It’s why sports and ORs outsell SRs for non-fleet customers. We all say we want a 95 Tacoma with roll up windows but our buying habits prove that wrong

I don't think anyone buys a 911 for rear seat leg room lol. I think plenty of people want a Pro but the leg room is a dealbreaker for them. Maybe not so much for others. People can vote with their wallets and that's fine. I know toyota doesn't have any issue selling the Pros. I don't think its unreasonable to feel one way or the other about the leg room on the pro. I think I want a pro eventually that has leg room and others can want one with the fancy seats. Great thing about it is whether or not someone else likes it doesn't affect me one bit :notsure:
