Any recommendations on a hitch carrier. Mainly would haul my dirt bike but would like to also occasionally haul my CB so I don’t have to rent a trailer.

Previous carrier I had the CB would bottom out on the ramp cuz of the angle.

looking at black widow seems they are well reveiwed.

I bought a 660lb(or 600lb) BW off FB. It does fine for my uses. I would imagine a non-lifted truck would be easier to load on :notsure:

Nice setup. Did you add the brake lights? Did you wire into the trailer plug? I need to do this also, last time travelled with a cover over the bike and everyone thought my light were off except you could still see my third brake light.

Yeah. Just bought a set of lights from HF or somewhere like that. I used an adapter to plug into my 7-pin

I had a Mototote M3 which handled my dirtbike great, you might want one of their upgraded models since you'll haul your CB as well. Versahaul and Black Widow both seem to be pretty solid brands as well, Joe Hauler as well.

I don't remember who but someone in here swears by their MoTow, which only lifts the front wheel and the rear tire rolls along on the ground. IDK how it would be on dirtbike tires, but they say there is little to no wear on their street rear since no force is being applied besides rolling resistance.

If money were no issue($2145 after shipping), the Rack-n-Ride would be mine. I like the fact you can pull a trailer.

“Ultimate MX Hauler” makes that lift style, too.

I’ve got one, it’s alright, more faffing required than the ramp style but has its benefits as well.

Trying to save my poor first gen frame, though, the tongue weight makes me nervous especially on potholed gravel roads. So I just picked up an old forest service trailer this weekend. More projects, yay

    That’s a cool little trailer!

what’s your pros/cons on the lift style?

I like really like the one that allows you to still haul a trailer
I don't know if that's an actual M100/416, but this site has a body(and other parts) if you ever want one :D

I had a M416(had the angled fenders and m100 has the round ones) back when I had my TJ

Thanks, thought it was a score, should be just about the perfect size for a bike once I modify the deck.

I've only owned a bike for 1 season, but I'd say...

    Pros:
    • Doesn't compress the suspension-- easier on your forks, less likely to gradually loosen tie-down straps as the bike bounces around
    • Smaller footprint to store
    • Easier to load and unload with one person (although loading can take some effort)
    • More clearance for forest road shenanigans
    • Moves the bike slightly closer/creates a smaller lever on the hitch (compared to my riding buddy's specific carrier, at least)
    Cons:
    • More annoying to use on lifted vehicles. I basically have to lift the entire bike's weight to get it on when fully lowered, or drive the front of the truck onto ramps
    • Have to be careful not to bend your pegs/frame by torqueing things down too hard. The previous owner did this so my bike has some damage. I switched the wing nut + jack handle setup for grade 8 nuts and split washers, so I can torque less but use jam nuts for peace of mind
    • Have to carry a bunch of tools to use it, because of the previous point but also because all of the joints are bolted together and require checking/adjustment to make sure it stays together while being loose enough to raise and lower properly
    • The jacks have been known to go out, which could leave you stranded, so I have to carry a spare one of those as well
    • The plastic protective strips crack after a while, paint is wearing off and rusting. Can scratch up your bike's frame if you don't have a skid plate, and gotta be careful about damaging breather tubes when loading/unloading as well
    • Can't fully open the tailgate even when it's lowered with no bike

Hot damn, that'd be cool. I didn't even know what this thing was called beyond "jeep trailer", so thanks for that, got something to research now

They're awesome trailers. I wish I had never sold mine. I got rid of it and built one from a Jeep Comanche to match

And then had one of these for a bit with my truck

I should have kept that one too....but I have a tendency to get on a kick and rid myself of projects I have sitting around.

This guy built a pretty cool camping trailer out of a m416. Expedition Portal has some incredible bills. I use to love that site.
