I have those on the list. I think those will come after this summer since I don't work much during the school year.

You still running drums in the back? I really want to do a disc brake swap to the back, but I can't find a wilwood rear disc kit

Dont waste your time with discs in the rear till you get a fabbed axle with a ford 9

May I ask why? Just not worth upgrading the rear end to that extent?

not worth the money on a stock housing, its going to happen, bending the OEM housing, if the replacement to a fabbed housing and ford 9 is in the cards then go disc like Tom said.

Half the cost in the rear axle is the fucking brakes anyway.

(This is the number I tell myself to convince myself to wait, too.)

JD fab has a new setup using wilwood discs and 74 weld makes the weld ons that have the mount for the abs sensor. and a fabbed housing and ford 9, full floater.

Isn’t that still utilizing the factory axle bearings though? Without fail I cook a set of bearings every year. They have been the weakest link of my 8.4.

Have you done the Tundra Booster and MC swap yet? I'm getting ready to do it myself, just waiting for the dude in the other thread who makes the adapter lines reply back to me

LOL, I have never cooked a rear bearing, ever, plus I have towed a 1000 lbs trailer when we were overlanding. When I smoked my diff we puled the axle bearings and cleaned them and they were perfect, they are in there now.
And no I dont think they are the oem bearings for JD's new setup.

I have done neither of those. My brake setup is 100% stock other than extended brake lines

This is how i feel about it. Really cool stuff!!! ...but i think it's a want what you can't have thing a lot more than people realize. If these trucks came from the factory with portals there'd probably be a decent amount of people taking them off for the drastic handling benefits it would provide with ground clearance being the only significant upside. Reminds me of every engine swap thread ever on here. If the 2tr or various v6 options didn't come with the truck - there would be hundreds of threads about swapping them in because the packaging is terrific

I did the 17" 4runner brake caliper/rotor swap and it was a noticeable improvement over my truck's 16" stock version.

@SoonToBeOn39s I have a set of OEM calipers off my 3rd gen with 10k-15k miles on them, perfect shape. Took them off when I went with Powerbrakes.

Also have a set of nice rotors (Centric with black coated hub faces) and pads (Powerstop truck pads) with 500-1000 miles on them.

I could get them out by tomorrow if you wanted them and didn't want to risk a parts store caliper.

I did this as well and am pretty happy with the results. Cheap setup using OEM parts.
