I’ve reserved a poverty package off-road with the 8” screen. I’m starting to have doubts that long term I might regret not getting the 14” screen and the bigger volume knob. I had a newer model Corolla with I believe the same 8” screen and tiny volume knob. The wife has a grand Highlander and the few times I get to drive it, I’m in awe of the huge infotainment. That being said it is more integrated into the dash, unlike the taco iPad glued on the dash appearance.

Has anybody with the 8” screen wished they got the 14”?

I could get the same truck with the bigger screen, JBL system, and spray in bedliner for about $2.5k more.

I have the larger screen. I don't wish I would have gotten the smaller one.

You’ll probably get used to it in a week. If you don’t, just buy some horse blinkers and you won’t be able to see it!

This. Hopping into my Tacoma premium pkg and to my buddies older cars with small
    Screens is very noticeable.

I love the large screen. I've had it for about 10 months and don't think I would have been as happy with the 8".

$2.5k for just those things is a bit steep. IMO the bed liner is pretty useless, you can get an OEM mat for ~$150 or aftermarket for less than $100. The JBL system is underwhelming until you add the BeatSonic amp (~$300). Even then, it's just whelming.

Well the one with an 8” is also a manual, the one with a 14” is an auto. That’s about $1000 of the difference.

I love mine so much that I’m almost willing to trade in my wife’s car because she has a tiny screen

Also, if you get the big screen as a standalone option, it automatically comes with JBL. I don’t really need that but it is what is.

If I’m dropping $50k+ on my truck, it’s going to have all the options I want. No compromises.

Well I knew exactly what I wanted. I originally wanted the Pro but the iso seats made me change my mind because I need as much room as possible in the backseat for my kid. I got the next best thing, trd off road hybrid with premium package with all the goodies. I would do more research on your wants and needs before you commit to making payments.

I drove both to test. The IMAX 14" screen was too intrusive and took over the driving experience in a way I didn't like. I was only going to take an 8", only the basic OR upgrade package instead of premium, and it made finding one harder, but I'm very glad I did. No regrets. Don't fall for the assumption that a bigger screen is better. Drive both and choose the one that's right for you. Similarly the TH and pro models and premium OR package had too many useless costly additions for me.

The volume knob on the 8" is replaceable for nada with one more useful, if that's your main concern.

Oh it is, I didn’t know that. Is that a factory replacement? I’m off to search that up.

Look up Rav4 knob replacement for 8" screen for 4th gen. Plus there are etsy options.

Ah so you can just get a Rav4 knob and it’s a direct replacement.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
People still touch their volume knob?! The only time I've touched mine is on the rare occasion that I have to turn the radio off.

I have the 14” screen and a manual. I like it.

14” screen vs. manual would be a more difficult choice. I assume the manual is what you were able to find vs. being able to select from several manuals.

Correct. This particular dealer has a couple manual off roads allocated, one bare bones and one with the premium package which I definitely don’t want. And then there are plenty of choices with auto trannies. Really I’d probably be happy with either transmission. I was able to test drive an auto and thought the driving characteristics and power delivery were wonderful. Wasn’t able to test drive a manual. I still have nightmares about my third gen and that terrible auto trans.
