I have two turns to get to home depot. So near zero traffic. Sad thing is i still run there it seems at least twice per project.

We're gonna go with comp. Prices for new tiles are insane around here. Luckily, i found a used tile place that charged 5$ each for my style, used for upkeep over the last few years. Now, every time I'm up there, i hear more and more cracks as i walk around. Would love to try metal tiles but not sure on availability/cost.

As for underlayment, there is none. Just tiles over attic space. Always thought that was weird and we'll pay a lot more to get that installed.

i have a similar soffit, but mine is like a cement board with drilled holes along the whole length. lots of the holes got plugged with paint because they sprayed too thick of a layer. i tried to go punch the holes with a screw driver, but it was going to take forever. i figured there is enough open holes to negate the ones that got plugged.

mine is the same as the one below

it sounds like yours are similar to the one in the pic below? maybe you could just buy a couple new panels and replace them?

if it were me i would look at getting them replaced. at least all the ones that are plugged. or possibly take one off and soak it in a paint stripper to see if it can be saved. if it can then great. take them off as necessary and strip them then spray paint them *lightly*

    Replacement would be easiest.

The best way to remove aluminum soffiting is to pull the aluminum facia away. But that's nailed through the soffiting.

Normally pulling any part of it off results in wrinkling the aluminum like a pop can, so it'll never look the same once you fuss with it. It's not abnormal to redo the soffit, facia, and gutters at the same time

Access panel arrived and I installed it. Height measurement was off about 1/2” so I had to cut more drywall. No biggie.

    Now it’s the wife’s turn

Folks. Keep your gutters in good shape and don't let water run off your roof, onto your deck, and splash on the side of your house for years...

It’ll be 18 months post purchase in May but I’m pretty sure I’ll have a kitchen sink finally. Yay to not doing dishes in the bathroom sink anymore. I’m still excited to have a washer dryer setup, so awesome to do laundry promptly vs letting it pile up.

For those of us who don’t know, what’s the back story? I was thinking maybe this was setup in a basement temporarily, but I see a truck in the back. Still could be I suppose. Just trying to understand what’s going on.

I have a half day per weekend from my grade school friend. He did all the cabinet assembly and framing behind it. His general design after we discussed. I strongly considered an 18” dishwasher spot but after hunting for those I cheaped out and got a used 24”, the extra 6” of storage just didn’t seem important enough. I also overspent on the ikea pantry but it’s so nice to have shelves for food.

I’m struggling with the gas vs induction range decision. Waiting on finishing the microwave vent and will test out suction before deciding. The funny part is my ‘02 Tundra v8 spews like a diesel at startup even with new O2 sensors so I’m not sure why I care about some natural gas fumes.

I do finish plumbing and all the electric and appliance install work. Neighbor did the counter off scraps from a friend.

As someone who was super skeptical of induction when I redid my kitchen 5 years ago I will ouch for them in a big way. Same instant heat on/off as gas with an easy to clean glass cooktop like electric. As long as you can afford a new set of pans, which you'll need anyway since it's in the garage, I would say don't hesitate on the induction range.

Yeah I think it may have been your post about it that caught my attention initially. I have a Costco set of induction ready cookware. I was all in on it originally and the 6/3 is there from the old electric water heater ready to be put to work.

I took a cooking class last week and the chefs were very thumbs down on it vs gas. Brought up humming / noise stuff. And then there is the cost part, cheapest one I’ve found is at least twice the price of a bargain gas range. Finally the whole price of electricity here vs gas tips it to 50/50.

The humming thing has happened about 12 times since we've owned it. We cook at least 5 nights a week. All the times it's happened simply moving the pot 1" has stopped it. Gas is tried and true though. I was dead set on gas but my wife wanted the induction and that wasn't a hill I was prepared to die on. Iol

Is that a crawl space or full height basement?
