Greetings all. I'm curious if anyone in this forum, new or old has ever had a fan blade(s) fracture/break? In the process of doing the timing belt and flushing the coolant system, and was contemplating replacing the fan blade (not the clutch) just for a refresh (it's around $130).

mine got charred up a bit when the crank pulley balancer puck broke on a hard stop in the pouring rain, right into the moving fan blade
i was replacing that fan fluid coupler clutch as well so just threw a shiny new blade on there while at it

The aisin fan blade is $25 on rockauto. It might be the OEM? I was wondering about mine too. It's just so big and obvious. But no issues. I don't think they hardly ever break because they don't suffer any heat or UV or fluid leaking onto them.

    4 run, 2 don't
    Go ahead and replace it.

Even though you said you're not replacing the fan clutch, consider what's installed currently in case you wish to upgrade it.

FCT-013 has a green band that's meant for vehicles equipped with the tow package.

Then there's the FCT-067 which has an orange band and meant to be for light duty use.

Both work well, but the first one cools better.

I swapped both my Tacoma and 4Runner to the green band variant when I replaced them.

i am surprised that the fan blade did not crack when the csp broke, and i did not see any fractures either iirc, during the several minutes it was tapping on that big harmonic puck that weighs a couple pounds probably

just a bunch of charred up edges on the blade

Ya I'm seriously considering it...I'm gonna take the weekend and think about it, I've ordered so much extra stuff for the "while I'm in there" deal, it's hard to keep it up
