Little update— Amazon weapon lights for me and my wife’s. Tried the 800 lumen on mine and had to get the 600 lumen with laser for my wife’s. Magnetic charging similar to Olight. Sweet deal for what you get honestly!

Is that an Eotech red dot? How do you like it?

 

It’s actually a Cyelee red dot— bit more budget friendly, decent quality and even better customer support; I’d love to have an Eotech red dot down the line! If not for my pistol definitely for a rifle.

I've always liked EoTech, they don't give me stigmatism issues that I get with red dots.

 

Have you ever tried a green dot sight?

 

I had a vortex uh1 holographic sight that I traded for this. Both reticles seemed pretty crisp and on par with each other. Not as crisp as a red dot circle optic but that is to be expected

 

The color isn't the issue, it's the way the light is presented in the reticle of the different types of optics. I could be slightly wrong in this, but I believe holographic images use multiple pieces of glass to cause the reticle to float in the sight, where as red dots use an emitter to shine a dot on to a single piece of glass in the sight. Holographic images don't produce as clear an image, but they don't look distorted when the shooter has a stigmatism. Red dots on the other hand, produce an image that when view with a stigmatism is more like a short squiggly line than a dot. I've got no way to tell which end of the line is where the dot originates, at shorter distances <100 yards I can still hit the target, just with less precision and of course the image is correctable back to a dot with glasses. But it's always a fight to keep your eye, your glasses, and the red dot lined up. Which is rather annoying, especially if you're trying to be precise and quick at putting shots on target.

 

I understand I just thought a color change might help

 

Naw, with a green dot I just get a brighter squiggly line.
