    Hey all!

I ordered a Magnuson TVS1320 to go on my truck (2003 3.4L 4x4 auto) and have been reading different pages of this thread to see what I might be needing to support my truck going forward.

I still need an AFR gauge, so either the PSB-1 or a similar AEM model. Not sure what consensus is currently but I've seen differing opinions on them all.

I saw mention of a Snow performance meth kit, and the AEM kit as well. I figured I'd start without it and see what my truck needs after the SC is installed.

Also going with the NGK FR7BHX-S two step colder plugs just to be safe, I had purchased some new stock plugs before I knew about running colder plugs being the norm.

I don't plan on going too crazy with power gains and still very much care about reliability, so any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

P.S: I'm located in California so am limited on what mods I could install anyways

A meth (snow or aem) kit will be illegal in CA and will fail visual inspection. You need to remove it biannually. The URD tends to pass because it’s somewhat original looking but meth will be more beneficial

I gave my PSB-1 to another TW member after about a year of disappointment. It was fairly accurate as an AFR guage when it worked but it would constantly loose power and flicker on or off like a burnt out LED bulb and each time power came back on it would start the O2 sensor warm up cycle over again. It also had a dead zone when switching between vaccum and boost, I forgot what the actual numbers were but I believe it was something like 0-1.2psi even after replacing the MAP sensor.

I kind of figured. Hopefully CARB checks for emissions effect for water injection in the future on our trucks. I know the AEM kit and a snow performance kit is fine on specific diesel trucks.

I wish but that statement is highly questionable……. They will reclassify to another abbreviation and keep operation the same

One can only dream. It's kind of insane that we can't install modifications that improve vehicle efficiency, though I understand there would need to be proof of that claim per mod. It just seems self evident that things like inter coolers and other cooling kits would be required if you're going to allow turbo/super chargers to be installed legally.

You're probably right, but time will tell and my fingers are crossed that whatever takes its place isn't the just a copy paste

I know right. Can’t wait for a 2UZ or 1GR swap first gen. The struggling SC 5VZ is getting tired

I forgot to ask: did you go with an AEM X-Series afterwards? I know there is also some AEM kit where they have their own newer sensor, but the Bosch 4.9LSU has been around forever so I figured that's the standard.

Where do people suggest having the new AFR sensor bung welded in? Near Bank 1 Sensor 1?

Innovate says 24" from the turbo. Both of my bungs are about 18" after the header collector, well ahead of the CAT. I suspect there is some flexibility so find a spot along the down pipe that is easy to reach for maintenance yet out of harms way at the same time.

Hmm okay. I guess I was thinking if that's where Toyota put the factory O2 sensor it would be a good place for the AFR one I'm getting from AEM.

Mine is a couple inches in front of b1s1. Also note the sensor has to be angled almost vertical to avoid any sort of condensation forming on the sensor.

Is that what the instructions ment I thought it was horizontal.
Where are you guys tapping into for the ignition 12v source?

I use the 12v ignition source for the radio. Then power a relay with that which goes to a fuse block so I can run a bunch of stuff off of it.

You're saying timing gets dropped to a fixed setting in open loop?
