My projects over the past 6 months......I'm a projects person, so I need a "to do" list to keep myself busy or I get into my own head and get dark. It's my way of coping with things, so I'm always thinking of ways to improve my home life big or small. As I get older though there are things I need professional help with, but it's generally with things like permit required things. I've done a lot more, but this is since the ends of summer I think....

Need to go back to the plans for that. I was fortunate to have people who have building experience who helped a lot! Surprisingly I was held up the most by the need for more footers than planned.

Look up "tool organizer for XXXXX" dewalt in my case and you get a lot of options that use the battery insert. But, be mindful of direction and position of each tool. I actually had to test fit each one before screwing it into the board to make it align and be spaced. I want to say I purchased it from Amazon before I realized a bunch of their sh!t is counterfeit from china. lol

I need to go buy more pressure treated boards... No, I didn't cut or knock down the rim joists, that's how the PO "repaired" it. All joists, sill plate, and rim joists in this picture are getting replaced. As is 8ft of bottom plate, and a couple studs. I have 5ft of 1/4inch thick 3x4 steel angle that will support the sill plate over the opening.

I've never seen a shower niche that low. I've always had them higher up and supplemented with stone corner shelves.

interesting. most of the jobs i've been near, they talk them into a small triangular corner seat instead. either for sitting, or raising a leg while shaving.

i don't know that i like the low niche from a cleaning perspective. the underside of the top of that inset is bound to get really gross.

I wish I could show as much progress as y'all do. Slowly working my way towards the back. All the untreated wood is getting replaced with treated. All the rotten sill plates and joists are getting replaced.
Going to have to do some fancy fitting as I need to replace the bottom plates. I am not going to be able to lift the wall the 3/4" needed from the opening back, so I will have to support the studs on jacks and cut them to get the height needed. The addition was done and "repairs" made without properly repairing the problem, they added more untreated wood and continued building. PO cut out the bottom plate to add French doors, but didn't support the studs. That caused the bottom plate on the left in the inside picture to sag almost an inch below the one on the right (note, I've already replaced the one on the right).
But, I'm at a standstill til Tuesday as I'm waiting for 10" long concrete wedge anchors to get delivered so I can bolt the sill plates (and therefore the walls) to the foundation.
The supports for the floor are a bit scary (like 2x4s nailed together then stood on end scary), so I will be doing some digging and putting in poured in place piers.

    20250413_103106.jpg 20250413_103033.jpg
The front corner of the house is now level front to back and side to side to the joist at the edge of the new bottom plate.
