I don't know that I have ever read on TW that someone had to replace a vacuum pump. Can't be that common to fail.

The major wear parts are available separately for under $20, those being the sliding vane and end caps/tips. If wear is present in other components, the complete unit will be the only option.

For those following or that do end up looking into the vacuum pump replacement:

For those questioning their vacuum pump: after months of research and inquiry, I replaced my vacuum pump VANE today (the vane and two caps can be found online from Toyota for around $30). This helped with brake sponginess and the noise greatly! It took a couple of hours of work because of the location of the vacuum pump, but did not require removing the whole pump or lifting the transmission (as advised by the TSB). I unbolted the coolant line bracket (2x 10mm bolts) and the 5 bolts for the vacuum pump vane housing (T25). The 5 vane housing bolts weren't the easiest to remove (thus the couple of hours), but totally doable and would be loads easier with a 1/4" slim ratchet/swivel ratchet and a T25 bit. Let me know if anyone has any questions! There hasn't been much info on a proper fix for this. If needed I can throw together a video, too, if there is enough interest! Also note that this is a 120k/124k miles maintenance item and I am at 128k currently. I intend to use this replacement as my 120k/124k maintenance. If I do find this isn't a viable or sustainable solution I intend to keep others updated, but until otherwise persuaded, I see no reason this shouldn't be a solution for not spending the $1900 to swap the vacuum pump (as the vane should be the weakest link in the vacuum pump assembly and seems to be the failing part).
