While driving home from work I was going into the fast lane and gunned the gas. The truck completely lost power and I pulled over in the fast lane breakdown area. The engine was still running but roughly and no response when I pressed the gas pedal. I turned the truck off and then restarted. The truck had power back and was able to drive 3/4 of the way home at a normal speed and no high rpm’s. decided to try hitting the gas to see if it would happen again and sure enough it did the same thing. The first time the engine light cleared the second time it stayed on. Got home and got my reader out and had a p030, p0305 and p0303. I just changed my plug not long ago so I don’t think it’s a plug issue. Any suggestions or fixes for this.

What you describe also could be a plugged Cat. If it is a Cat, emission warranty should be 8 years or 80K miles. See page 15 of this PDF.

Can you purchase just the ACIS or do I have to replace the whole manifold?

If that’s the problem, you can either delete the flap and lose some low end torque (I believe that’s what you lose and not the high end HP but I could have it backwards), or you can replace the whole intake manifold. Unfortunately you can’t fix one that’s broken because if the bushing that breaks.

I hope it’s not the cat because I’m at 97,000 miles

Get a freeze frame from the scanner. The high pressure fuel pump is one of possible issues based on you description

You said you changed the spark plugs but maybe it’s the coils going bad. It is misfiring and giving those codes for a reason and bad coils would do that

also if you don’t want to mess with the coils yet do a check on the vacuum. Easiest way to check is to find the little vacuum actuator on the intake. With the engine running, rev it past 4K and see if the actuator moves the flap linkage. If it doesn’t, check the vacuum lines, the VSV that controls it, or see if the linkage is stuck.

The flap is electronically controlled. The 2GR doesn’t really have any vacuum available. They use an electronic flap and the vacuum pump provides vacuum for the brake booster, but otherwise no vacuum.

Best thing to rule out the manifold is to remove it and take a look at the condition of the flap.

Is it possible to remove the air filter and intake run and use a flexible ''spec'' camera to inspect the intake flap without removing the intake manifold?

The manifold isn’t available and had to order online. I removed the manifold and the gear fell out with the broken shaft. There’s is no way to remove the flap without putting a hole in the manifold.

Stock with a camper shell for now.
Is this a common issue? I’m curious because I’m approaching that same mileage mark and have a long drive to Canada coming up in July. I would hate to have an issue in my travels.

I drilled and used a jig saw to open the manifold and extract the flapper. There’s flapper was jammed in on of the intake ports which is why I was getting the P0303 and P0303 on my reader. Took some time to dislodge it. I reinstalled the intake a took for a romp on the highway. Everything is good and I’ll change it when I receive the new one.

Good to see you’re handling it and that the known issue was the issue here. Such a dumb flaw…the intake manifold deserves a redesign but it will never get one.

Just as an ending to this issue I received the new intake and installed it. Upon removing the old one I forgot to take a picture of how I cut open the access panel. You will see I avoided the sealing surface. The truck was fine running without the flap but I noticed you loose fuel economy so replace as soon as you can.
