    • Just got my new truck and noticed the finish on the paint is inconsistent and blotchy on the side and quarter panels. The hood has stripes running horizontally heavy and thin stripes. Took it in to Toyota and they definitely agreed it was not right. They took several photos and document mileage and vin#. I took a look at some other 25’s on the lot and I could see it on a few of those too. We will see what Toyota will do. I’m not sure what I want to do…new truck…new paint from a highly rated shop? Only way to fix that is a repaint or new truck, you can't fix it by doing anything else as it's the base coat that was improperly undersprayed. That is a seriously thin coat of paint.

Pretty sure they will offer a repaint but I’m not sure I want that history on my new truck. Definitely going to come out swinging for a new truck. May even need to go with a different color as I’ve noticed this on other new solve ones on the lot.

I mentioned in another thread that when I was at my local dealership I noticed every silver Tacoma I looked at had horrible flat rough paint on the right bedside around the wheel well lip. Because of that and the bad white paint job thread I opted to pay the $500 extra for the supersonic red even though I don't much like most reds figuring they'd pay more attention when you pay extra for it. I soon discovered that the paint is extremely thin when I barely knocked a door edge on a smooth surface and it chipped showing just how thin.

This is awful. How you can ruin a pricey truck with bad paint is beyond me. This is phenomenally bad if we can see it so obviously in photos.

Toyota is still a good vehicle but to be fair to all the other competition they have let their quality and customer service slide like everyone else. Why keep those standards when we continue to buy their products when they sell you stuff that looks like this poor guys truck. I bought into the hype as well with my 17 Tacoma thinking the frame issues were resolved. Didn't make that mistake again when I bought a Mazda CX5 recently rather than the RAV4. Had owned nothing put Toyotas since 1988. My last 2 vehicles from Toyota were not what I used to buy. Wont be another.

Most quality issues at Toyota right now lead back to rampant cost cutting, no doubt being driven by middle management hacks. Ironic, considering the prices.

That this particular truck made it past the factory final check, the distributor, and dealer inspection is a head-scratcher. But then, the customer inspected it on delivery, and drove it home. Hope they give you a new one.

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
Just point to another one with same issue and say "see it's normal".

The only true fix is to start the lemon law process directly through Toyota & get them to buy the truck back....
I did it on my 24, got every dime back....

You dont want them to repaint the truck....
Repaint will never last as long as factory paint & silver is the #1 color to oxidize first, so repaint along with natural charetectistic of the paint is a double whammy.....

Unfortunately I picked it up on a rainy day here in San Francisco. Drove it home parked it and had to go out of town for a few days. Started to notice it on my ski trip runs to Tahoe at the gas station when filling up. At least I was having fun!

I didnt find my paint flaws till months later....
Just cuz they offer you a repaint, you dont have to accept that as a solution.
Need to man-up & tell them...
Dealer isn't going to open the lemon law / arbitration case for you....
But its a start where it all needs to be documented, ive helped 2 other guys on here get their 24 Tacomas bought back by toyota for paint issue.....

I have personally first hand have seen the blotchy silver on quiet a few new 24 Tacomas....
One of the 2 guys I helped with their paint issues have also mention he saw the blotchy silver on the lot....
Theyre aware, you just need to play ball now.....

or just live with it, dont under any circumstance get it repainted...
