Figs bear fruit twice. One small crop early in the season, then a full crop in the summer.
My 1st crop gets hit by a late March frost every year and I never get it.
IIRC the original fig was from the Middle East/Mediterranean sea area, no winter to speak of.

I think some varieties of figs do this. Olympian does, so you are spot on.

    From duck assist:

"Not all fig trees bear fruit twice; some varieties produce a breba crop in early summer and a main crop later in the season, while others may only produce one crop. The ability to bear fruit twice depends on the specific type of fig tree and growing conditions."

    https://greenupside.com/when-does-a-fig-tree-produce-fruit/

    https://www.figboss.com/post/olympian-fig

    "
    Strengths:

    1. Breba Crop Production: One of its standout features is its ability to produce a reliable breba crop (the first crop of the season). This extends the fig harvest by 30-45 days and is especially valuable in regions with shorter growing seasons or mild summers, such as Olympia, Washington.

I think they are brothers in the fig world

I think my largest hold back was just the newness of the plants. Some sources say 4-5 years. As of Thursday 4 full years in this house

Kind of amazing the work and planting we have done. I do have a Brown Turkey but I planted that 2 years ago.

Most disappointing is the Desert King. Grows like a weed. Been in the ground almost 4 years treated just like the others- supposedly it’s good here, but nothing. It may be a non breba variety

I think that is the variant of brown turkey I have. Ultimately it’s not cold here, there are a lot colder places. Here it is the short growing season on relatively cooler summers.
