I did mine last night. Turbotax was definitely helpful. This is the first time I did my own taxes in at least 10-15 years. I didn't file at all the last couple of years.

Looks like you are passing right through Durand. Depending on when you're passing through, maybe I'll be in the area. Check out the Durand Brewery also. Jake's Supper Club is usually worth a stop if you're looking for some prime rib.

I used to use taxact until they kept raising their prices. last 5 years or so I've used https://www.freetaxusa.com/

only costs $15 and I'd argue their website is better than turbotax, taxact, etc

 

How can they call it free tax if it costs $15??

 

federal filing is free, $15 for state.

 

I'll check this out next year. Now that I'm not scared of doing my taxes anymore, I think i'll file every year.. even if it's only going to get me a few $$.

 

I did mine in early March. Being my first year filing retired, I didn't want to get a last minute surprise payment. Wound up getting almost all that was paid in while still working back.

 

be sure to download your return from this year - you can import it next year and it'll fill in a bunch of crap for you. makes it super easy to switch.
