The reason to use trail grid pro is that they open whatever unit you buy and solder/shrinkwrap/tesa tape the wiring harness to make everything truly plug and play with your vehicle. The price also includes whatever aftermarket unit is required to maintain steering wheel controls, a dash kit (bezel) and usually any other adapters necessary to maintain stock functionality. Although sometimes you still need accessories for extra fluff like XM or GPS, but that depends on the manufacturer and the capabilities of whatever HU.
Check the “whats in the box” tab, price out the add ons, then weigh how much the convenience of the entire thing showing up at your door already set up and ready to install is worth to you. The unit I want has the maestro RR ($175 on crutchfield) included in the price for example.
Not trying to talk you into buying a new stereo from them, just sharing what the service that TGP offers is and pointing out that their “sales” are usually the same as their everyday pricing

Check Sony’s website, much cheaper than Crutchfield or Trail Grid.

Looks like you need a bed mat. Had the same experience the other day when I had my bed mat out for cleaning and put 1 small thing in the bed. With the bed mat I never hear things hitting the side but without it it was every time I stopped.

Got a lot done in the last few days. Made a spare key fob, installed the OEM power tailgate lock, installed the Cali Raised cat shields, and just had the OTT tune done.

It’s been pretty solid since installing. Wireless too. Small screen still, but resolution is good and it doesn’t interfere with my anytime backup camera with front camera.

This is… inaccurate. Price is the same as crutchfield and cheaper than Trailgridpro for the reasons outlined in my previous comment

You are correct, Crutchfield just dropped the price.

Man all that stuff included and I can’t even keep satellite radio. I already have factory CarPlay so I’ll probably just get the Sony XMS400D amp that will fit in the dashboard behind the radio for $225 and keep everything else.

I have driven at least 25 miles since putting them on. Waiting to get an alignment before daily driving again. Hopefully with time they ride a bit better than they do now.

It’s been almost a year working on and off rebuilding these shocks I purchased for $1200 from eBay. Finally finished them and installed them this weekend. Time for a detail of the wheel wells…IMG_3112.jpg

That's a bummer. I'm pretty happy with construction and the output. Maybe send them a message?

Did a quick install on the boomers dashtop ram mount (BDRM). Thanks @oostroma ! Works great and is an alternative to the ones you can google.

Got an offroad dent a while back. Since those dent pullers weren't a success, I tried popping out the dent from the inside of the door panel but it keeps popping back inwards. The crease at the top of the 12" dent makes it fun. So, for now it's a battle scar.

Started working on bed platform number 3.

The first one was double drawers but wasn't tall enough. The second one I built taller and went with a single drawer but I didn't like having my food right next to my MTB gear and with the drawer open I
couldn't sit on my tailgate. So this one is triple drawers, one for my MTB gear, one for my pantry/cooking gear, and one for my fridge/water cooler.

Hopefully this one is the final version.

Just a quick thank you to all that actively contribute to Tacomaworld. I learned so much from your posts, and hopefully provided some useful info with mine. My 2023 was towed away today. It was totaled after being hit in the rear while waiting at a red light. The accident buckled and bent the rear frame (which is one piece, a costly repair). Fortunately, the other driver had a license and insurance (albeit underinsured) and with my insurance, total payout was ~$300 less than I paid OTD about two years ago. It was a great truck and I am amazed at the value retention on these trucks. We have other vehicles so I will likely buy another truck in a year or two.

    Thanks again
