carry-over capital losses got me a small refund this year. That's two years in a row I've gotten money back rather than writing a check. I should lose money more often

The irony, for my situation, is that Reno is further west than Los Angeles is. And there's an entire mountain range in the way

The title (I need to move somewhere without greasy tree roots) = I fell down. Not sure if intentional!! Hahahahahaha funny.

Was doing the ol' pay the Gubmn't this weekend and discovered the Mrs was contributing to a Roth but not auto investing...So I set up the auto buy for the contributions in a low cost age related fund...
So there was an interesting bit of dry powder sitting there, next to the 98% return on the rest of the funds... I explained to her about balancing risk...and diversifying...and set up a $FBTC buy at $73....And wouldn't you know it hit $73.07 today and bounced...dammit...should have done $73.10

First time in 3 years I haven't owed...maybe finally figured out just the right amount to overpay throughout the year.

I fully intended to hire someone to do it for me this year. Had a guy all lined up and was supposed to upload all my docs in early march so he could prepare and file them for me for $200. I was living on easy street. Completely forgot about all of that, and as I was sitting on the couch on Sunday around 10am, it dawned on me it was the 13th and I said, "FUCK." So I paid my $200-whatever to turbo tax and did it myself in a few hours like I always end up doing. This year kinda sucked too, I had a couple special financial shenanigans going on I had to contend with.

Next year though. Next year I'm paying someone else

I did mine yesterday too lol. Had to pay for the stupid premium.

Still got a nice return, but I’m single, my state doesn’t have an income tax, I don’t have any dependents or fancy write offs, yada yada.

I got $2011 of my prepaid tax dollars back this AM

Taxes change or rather paying them is different in a way after retirement and RMD. I just throw a bunch to the IRS around Christmas

I've heard this argument a lot, but I've done the same as Steelhead. And I've never had to worry about coming up with extra cash to pay them like i've seen sooo many other people complain about having to do. Just one less stress I never have to worry about.

The total victory is +/- $100....
Married filing jointly tax bump gets me...
Married filing jointly claiming zero...We always owe taxes so we have extra taken out.....This year with claiming losses we got some $$ back...
