My 2021 was a nice truck. Wish I still had it. It was a mistake selling it.

More Tacoma owners take their trucks off road than Porsche owners take their cars to the track. Who’s overpaying for their “lifestyle” vehicle?

Not that it particular matters, since I did have my 911 set up for track use with adjustable suspension and lowering and other stuff, but initially I just bought it as a comfortable way to drive between the Bay Area and LA.
But Porsche is a niche luxury car manufacturer with very low sales numbers.

I just want Toyota to keep making a really cheap ass version of the SR 4x4 when I need to buy one in a couple of years, I don’t have interest in their halo vehicles or four-door family trucks.

I would probably buy the turbo SR XC today if I could find a good deal on one, I was pretty happy with just about everything about it when I test drove one except there is no clamshell AC door anymore even though Nissan keeps doing it with the new Frontier.

Funny, I paid $37K new for my 2023 TRD OR, then sold it 18 months later (still stock) for $40500. You don't hear many stories like that on the 4G.

They all seem to think so. I love my choice to have bought a 4g.

And you can buy a truck now for the same real price after adjusting for inflation. There are still SR trim 4gs, you know

My question is do you need to take your truck off road for it to be justified in its purchase?

…and what are quintessentially truck things?

Hauling home improvement stuff, hauling bikes to the trailhead? Helping your daughter move into her new home?

    Driving on fire roads?

    Driving on snowy roads?

Jesus this is getting dumber. You like it and think it is a good value, you buy it. You do not like it and do not believe it is worth the price or a good value, don't buy it :notsure:

I am part of the later, but does not make one right vs the other :burp:

Anything that happens to not be Japanese. If they were still made in Texas I would complain about that.

Statement may or not be true. There are certainly a lot more Tacomas than Porsches, that alone give my argument an edge. And I said "Porsche", a lot of Porsche sales are Cayennes which I doubt ever get tracked. The point I wanted to make was the negative connotation of "lifestyle" truck vs a car that can go 0-60 in 3 sec, top out at 180+, and go 1.1g on the skidpad when most drivers will never use that performance.

Spend your money on what you like. I don't have a need/desire for a 911 Turbo S but I appreciate/admire the vehicle and would enjoy talking to the owner of one. I hope he wouldn't think my wanna-be desert racer truck was an overpriced waste of money.

I am fully aware of inflation. My salary has not grown with inflation. So, if anything, things are more expensive.
