@plode682 - I used the grommet (empty plug) up high on the passenger side, worked like a charm.

Make sure to use a very blunted / rounded rod to poke through and take your time, there's a blower fan and ECU modules with a hefty wire harness. But with some patience I found it to be the optimal spot and still have the driver side grommet for wiring lights etc.

You have a picture (inside or outside) or approximate location (passenger left foot, right foot, behind console) of where this is?

I mounted my Yaesu FTM-150 today with a Lido Radio Products mount. This cubby area is perfect for a remote radio head. I think it turned out good.

Yes it is. I forgot where I ordered it from but it's been great. It comes with 4 valve stem cap sensors.

Any NMO is that easy to swap, you can walk up to a police car and switch the antennas out the same as yours.

Just keep throwin' money at it.
I've read through many pages and done a few search, but hoping someone can answer this. I have an FT-7900r that I want to put a mic socket in the dash for. I keep finding RJ45 dash sockets, but the FT-7900r's Mic uses an RJ11 straight cable. If I run that straight cable into the back of the RJ45 socket with the size difference between an RJ45 and RJ11, will it stay in place or be loose? I know the socket is just essentially a passthrough connection, and if I plug the mic into the other side, in theory the pins will line up.

I am looking at an RJ45 dash plug like this (which I have seen others use)

I just put a new radio under the seat and wanted to run something like this through one of the dash switch locations. I tested it out with a short 3 foot cable and a f-f connector only to find out that it will key up the radio and not transmit any audio. Now I need to find out why.

I think in theory a 45 can also accept an 11. At least that’s what I concluded after researching. However, in practice it hasn’t worked for my Yaesu. Could be that I just have a bad pass through and need to try another to confirm.

It's possible the cable is not a straight wired and has one of the pairs flipped. That is common with phone cables. If you have one that is straight wired you should be able to test it. Another option is to look at the ends if they are clear and make sure the wire colors are matched in order.

The quality on these are hit or miss. The one I had the back end popped off, rear jack deathgripped my cable, and the front facing jack itself had play in it so the plug would wobble up/down. It worked but was otherwise a pos.

Is that an rj45 or rj11 switch blank? I have a Yaesu as well and it didn’t work with an rj45.

So the handset is RJ-45 and it has 8 different colored wires in it - like a rainbow. Not the typical Cat-5 / Cat-6 cable. I tried running the short patch cable as T-568B (the way it came) and T569A, & T568B Crossover.
    upload_2025-4-29_21-20-28.jpg
I also tried a pin-out that was literally straight through like it would have been if it was a flat cable with no twisted pairs.

My guess is that the F to F connector / coupler was the problem.
    upload_2025-4-29_21-21-36.jpg

Will have to try again some day - Or just get the blue-tooth hand mic and forget the cable altogether.
