I was looking to do the same thing, what’s the weight? Which ceiling setup did you get? The other question is are you putting a safety strap to the ceiling or are you just using the rope from the hoist? That looks great!

Its roughly 200lbs. The tent is 120 and the rack is about 80. The hoist is made by Flexmounts, I got it on Amazon. The safety strap is a good question, I am thinking about adding something as an additional safety measure. Right now its the cable of the hoist holding it in full with a locking device on the crank. I am thinking of adding some additional eye bolts to the joints and putting two ratchet straps under it as a catch if the hoist let go for whatever reason.

Looks great. Seems pretty straightforward at first but there’s more than meets the eye.

I do something similar. Started out with a Harkens Hoister. Then I replaced that with a small winch with a synthetic rope. I used to put that 2x4 platform under it but now I just ratchet strap it to the ceiling. Tent is 230 by itself.
