When I was young and first going on active duty, my real life mentor was Maj. Gen. George Honnen (Charleston, SC).

I believe that he was the "bossman" at the Citadel a long time ago.

    Good luck ...

Gen. Honnen was retired when I met him and his wife ... I was a young punk and he talked me into leaving the Navy and going into Marine Air.

I believe that he was the "bossman" at West Point too.

He did a lot of stuff in his career and even more after he retired. I think that he had 1 or 2 sons that made General too.

Edit ... here is a link to him --> http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=52656839
