Story Time with Gritto


I've seen the Aurora Borealis exactly once.
It was maybe 20 years ago and completely unexpected.
Mind you, this was just above the Mason Dixon line between PA and MD.
So... pretty far south for the Northern Lights.

I was running practice night for the trap team at the Club.
Summer League was over (we won), and Winter League hadn't started yet.
It was a mild October evening, with perfectly clear skies.
We shot under the lights.

It was fully dark when we wrapped it up, cased the guns and turned off the lights.

Woah!

The entire northern horizon was magenta colored, all the way up to perhaps 30 degrees.
Faint at first.
We broke out the beers and sat at the picnic tables gabbing.

Over the next hour, it got more and more intense and shimmery.
The light was still mostly magenta, mixed now with pinks and violets.
It was strong enough to cast a shadow.

We lingered there a few hours, marveling at the show, and drank more beer than usual

It isn’t Lowe’s it’s a contractor. You are correct… lowest bidder who can keep a satisfied customer ratio. These companies are like security guard companies - they fold when they lose customers, only to relicense as a new company and hire cheapest labor once again…

 

It's called 'rebranding' LOL
Plus, how else can you dispense with the debt from company #1 ?

I wish I had some pictures of the one I saw.
I had a digital camera then, but it wasn't with me and the megapixel count was low.
It had to be a really big solar storm to see it so far south.

There are actually a few websites that issue predictions, or rather, probabilities.
Apparently, they're very hard to predict.
Especially on the southern fringe.
