    that expose upper intake gasket, is that new or the one on the engine prior to the rebuild?
    if used, I wouldnt re-use it....
    easier to scrape it off now while on the stand....

    it’s a metal gasket and I was going to reuse it. The metal one should be fine if cleaned well. I’ll probably end up ordering one though.

    I wouldnt risk it,
    that goes for the lower too...
    Too much work to have to go back in for something like that vs sitting on the engine stand..

    so this royal purple break in oil is synthetic. That’s okay to run? I thought you wanted to run conventional on break in. I bought the royal purple and I’m gonna run it. Just curious to know your opinion on that.

    Dang, it does say synthetic never noticed that before and I have used it in the past and it says on the description it’s conventional so I’m thinking Royal Purple Synthetic is just there trade name. Read this straight from there website.

    Royal Purple Break-in Oil is a fully formulated conventional 10W-30 engine oil and does not require the use of any other chemical additives.     yeah I can’t wait to see how different it runs without the balance shafts and all the gears for that. I took so much stuff off that had to do with those balance shafts.

    so I cracked open the old power steering pump and it looks like it could be power steering fluid or brake fluid. Not atf. It’s pretty dirty. What kind of fluid should I use? ATF, brake fluid or power steering fluid?

    I've used Valvoline Maxlife ATF on all of my power steering systems (and Aisin WS fluid type auto transmissions) throughout the years. 3 rigs, hundreds of thousands of miles, lots of flushes. It's cheap enough, works great and is easily available.

    my only concern is mixing different fluids since I won’t get everything out of the lines because I’m not doing a pressured flush.

    Search Valvoline Maxlife here. You'll find how commonly it's used, compatible with Toyota ATF systems.
