I have a 2019 Tacoma sr with the 4 and 6 speed. 72k. Crawled under my vehicle today and noticed this. Is it the torque converter?

Casting flaws. Might be some very small through wall cluster porosity in the second picture. Nothing to be concerned about.

That’s the bell housing, not the torque converter. The TC is inside of the bell housing.

As already mentioned casting defects perfectly normal.

Looks like it might be shrinkage cracking. Picture 2 has some dross from the casting process, and the surface is consistent with a sand casting. I’m not at all familiar with the bell housing, and I’m not going to crawl under my truck to look, but from the pictures I don’t see that area would be highly stressed.

Anybody who thinks that's a "crack" would freak the fuck out if they ever replaced a clutch and saw what it looks like on the inside of a bell housing

Well, I am far from an expert when it comes to automobiles, but definitely prefer the casting defect explanation.

It never hurts to ask. That’s how one learns. Even experts don’t know everything.
