I just picked up a 2017 Toyota Tacoma TrD sport with 73000 Miles on it. After I drove off the lot, I noticed truck would have a shudder around 45 n esp 50 miles an hour, with light acceleration In low rpms. I took it back to the dealership and let them know of the problem, and they said the tires could be not balanced, correctly, they put these new tires on also. So they rebalance the tires and it still had the shudder with the tires. The tires being sailon terramax at tires. The dealership uses this brand and type of tire for all of their, trucks and light s.U.Vs. They asked to bring the truck back and do some tests on it so they could see if it was the tires or something else. I drop it off and they did their tests of different rims and tires, they also drain and filled the transmission fluid I guess, and they said that the tires were defective basically, so said they would order a new set of sailon terramax tires for it and to come back. I dropped the vehicle off again, and they put the new set of tires on the truck and now they said that they were only able to balance one of the four tires. So now they gave me a different tire brand, Firestone destination LE3, as they said they tested it and took it for a test drive and the shudder was gone. I picked up the truck and drove it and indeed the shudder that happens around those 1200 - 1400 rpms and light acceleration are gone. I'm just confused as to why there's this problem, will it come back, should i be worried, and why I have these all season tires compared to the at tires they use on all their vehicles.. If anyone has had the same problems or if anyone knows of anything or what I should do please let me know! Boggles me.. Thank you.

That's what I'm thinking and really hoping too after I've done some research about them. From what I've learned tacomas are picky with their balancing and the problems could've been unbalanced tires, u joints, ball joints, normal drive line play, torque converter, uneven tread, and such. I talked to them too about the tires and they even said it's on the cheaper side but haven't really had a problem. Heres to hoping it was just that! Ima ride these tires and upgrade at some point along with suspension some. Thanks for your reply

When you was describing shudder I was going to say torque converter. If your vibration was in the steering wheel it was the front tires if it was in the seats it was the rear tires. The Firestone are going to be better than the cheap china tires and a all season tire always rides better than AT.

I’m glad it was your tires and not your transmission.

Yeah I think i noticed the shudder throughout it all kinda thing. Only way I could convince myself i wasn't crazy was to hum and notice the shudder in my hum or look at my bottle of water in the cup holder. Def noticed it more around 50 mph with light acceleration In low rpms. And yes!!! Very thankful that it was just cheap tires and not something more major that I walked myself right into. I did also pick up a 3 year 36000 mile warranty on the truck too so if anything does happen In that time hopefully it is covered. Haddad Toyota dealership in Pittsfield Ma this may or may not be the last time you hear from me! Thank you for your time and reply.
