I used to like that guy but he lost alot of credibility in my opinion. He said the new Tundra was going to be the best new release in automotive history with the extensive testing that was done, wouldn't surprise me if he hasn't deleted those videos.

Internet influencers were recruited to push the new sequoia and tundra. And they were using some script Toyota marketing gave them because the same words were showing up in different people’s podcasts, including how the sequoia was essentially a Land Cruiser and they were singing the praises of the iforce max with similar language.

So something like this won't work: https://youtu.be/JRZbP54LV9c?si=GT-k2ZDSQYGSbikp

That is too bad the paint is bad. Such a good looking color. I am getting a 25 in black. Hopefully that comes out good.

    no....
Trd Jon, just had lats of micro scratches which is common on the underground...
Theres literally uneven silver laid onto the panels & then clear sprayed over that...
paint correction isnt going to fix anything...

Won't do anything for bad colorcoat. This will remove some dirt in paint, some orange peel and other surface defects. Compounding and abrasive polish will necessarily remove a little clearcoat to get rid of the defects. As thin as the paint comes from the factory, I'd be nervous of any abrasive process. What you can do is get the proper clay bar from Chemical Guys, clay your paint which will rid any surface contaminants without affecting the paint, then apply a good brand of ceramic polish yourself and that will be an improvement.

CSM is a two stage paint, base coat w/metallic and clear coat. The problem is not the clear coat it’s with the base coat. I assume something has gone wrong with the robot/equipment resulting in a poor quality finish. This should have been noticed on the first truck that this happened to never should there have been multiple trucks.

You can bet Toyota knows about the issue they’re just hoping only a few get noticed. Who knows how many are actually on lots that will be sold to unsuspecting customers.

I’m afraid this is the future of Toyota’s QC.

Silver metallic is notorious for streaking from improper angle or overlap. How does a robot screw that up?

@Cappy737 , have you gone TO the dealer to speak to them or are you only relying on phone calls & email? The latter is very easy to ignore; the former, not so much.

Yes. I had a scheduled appointment last Thursday. They took photos and documentation of the vehicle. The photos they took were very evident. Was told they will be in touch. I’m sure they will get back to me, just a bit frustrated on my side.

As I stated, call that corporate # yesterday....
Thats where all the magic happens!!!
Start the arbitration process & hold-on....
It will take some time, absolutely no reason to wait for service dept to get back to you...
WHATEVER they say, you shouldn't be ok with their solution...
They will never get you into a different truck, you have to start the arbitration hoop-jumping....

This I can't understand, they already had rear disc brake designs on rear axles of trucks/SUV's, they could have pulled it right off the old FJC prints.
