I haven’t shopped for bourbon in a bit. I’ve been wanting to use what I have lol. We have a family gathering Sunday and I was tasked with getting a few bottles. I grabbed a Green River wheated, a bottle of 1776, Even Williams and WT 101. Nothing fancy but all delicious just the same. I also grabbed an OF single barrel. These things absolutely rock. The owner tossed in a bottle of Three Chord. Not something I would have grabbed due to the low proof, but I was very appreciative just the same. Cheers

Going Benchmark Bonded tonight, hard to find a cheaper better pour. But I’m open to options!

Saw this a couple times on here and decided to give it a go. Was skeptical considering my only experience with WT was 101 and early 20’s. This is much much better.

Went looking for Buffalo Trace today , sold out of course. Ran into a sales rep for a distributor and after a nice conversation with him he convinced me try Four Roses small batch. Glad he did. I think I’ll have another pour.

Damn! King of purple tops right there! I have an 11yr bourbon that's really good. I always get overwhelmed quickly by purple tops, not knowing what makes them so different? other than age and proof of course. What's the secret?

Mash bill is a big one. Willett has several mash bills that are determined by barrel number.
Typically, I like the younger WFE's (6-9 years) than I have in older ones (10+ years).
And short barrels are killer. I've got a bottle that's in a 52 bottle run and damn is it good.

Fresh crack. It’s been a while since I’ve had a pour I really didn’t like. The last one that comes to mind is Henry McKenna. This had that same nasty funk but without the proof. I drank about a third before it became a drank pour. I’ll try again on a while, maybe I had an off night with my taste buds. Cheers

The only blended pour I used to love was a blended scotch, Monkey Shoulder, such a delicious pour, hit the sweet spot at around $32. One of the best bang for $ imo. I'm no scotch guy either, peat taste makes me cringe.

Could not help myself, picked up another Buffalo Trace today. The Eagle Rare spot on the shelf was empty and the price tag was gone. Makes sense, I was told (by someone from the area) that the 10 year warehouse was right by the river and flooded.
