    I believe that the whole boiler was over 400 pounds!

    I scored this 1994 Gibson freezer on Sunday. It does work, but it keeps getting frosty and the guy I got it from bought a new one. It even still uses R-12, which shocks me because this freezer was manufactured in September 1994; I thought that they stopped selling R-12 refrigerators and freezers in this country in 1993…? Either way, it clearly has a malfunction and I don’t have any place to put it, so it goes to appliance heaven on Thursday…

    This is an Emerson Quiet Kool (EQK) wall A/C unit, circa 1983, that has been outside upside down for roughly two years; I have no idea if it works because it uses a 220V plug and the only two my house has are in the laundry room, which is on the second floor. It is pretty much intact and I knew it had some valuable parts in it that my HVAC enthusiast friends would pay for. The plan was to cut it up, save parts like the compressor and fan motor to sell, and scrap the rest. This unit is 18,000 BTUs, which is the size of a small split-system central A/C; I probably could have gotten $75-$90 for it if just scrapped the whole thing. Somebody I know has offered me $100 for the whole thing, just so I won’t scrap it!

    I wouldn't even install it in a shed.
    It's just junk to me.

    I only saw rather valuable scrap until someone offered me a Benjamin for it…

    Not to mention that $100 is zero more work for you versus the time to cut it for the scrap harvest. Good deal.

    I took the 1983 EQK out of its sleeve today to see what condition it was in…

    @Lt. Dangle

    Biggest compressor I’ve ever seen outside of a central A/C!
