I doubt it. The interiors seem to get smaller with every generation.

To be honest, I would have loved the bigger screen, but it was not available in the poverty spec SR5 with upgrade/cold weather. I still love this truck, though.

That won't fit in those crappy dorms. Must be a delivery to the President's office.

LOL. Well, I am home, with my 8” screen. That’s what came with the truck I bought. If it came with a 14”, then I would have a 14” screen. :deadhorse:

Sounds about right. Technology first appeared in Lexus models and slowly trickle down to mainstream Toyotas

The correct answer: neither. The 8" is too small and the 14" is way to big for the small Tacoma cabin. The 12" display on the LC FTW.

3rd gen guy here entertained about the talk of an 8" screen in a new 4th gen being the poverty option. :D

The laptop sized screens seem kinda ridiculous to an outsider. To me it's like when Harley Davidson started adding the iPad like dash to their old school baggers.. jumpin' the shark. Our Hyundai has a large screen and the Apple CarPlay icons and Podcast titles can be read from 3 car lengths back.

If my frame would not have rust rotted I'd still own it along with the bucket seats and 5 sp manual vs going newer

The only difference i can tell between the 8 and 14 is when backing up. The rear view is awsome. Glad i got it but wouldnt be sad if the 8 was what i had.

That's where I am on the debate. I drove one with the 14" screen and it felt like it was too large for the cab. It made it feel cramped. The 8" is a little small, but honestly, the wide bezel surrounding the smaller screen is what makes it look cheap. A 10, 11, or 12 inch screen with a slim bezel would be just about perfect. I imagine there will be reasonably priced aftermarket options that meet that criteria.

I prefer no screen. That is why I went back to a 2nd gen. Way less distraction, much more focused on the task at hand, you know, driving.

I'd be happy to see more car manufacturers adding a "screen off" button close to the display. When we're out on a Sunday afternoon drive we always turn off the displays and put away the phones. Would be nice if vehicles didn't force you to hunt for the display off option in the infotainment menus.

    Ive had both...
I like that the knob location is close on the 8" vs center of the truck on the 14", more of a reach...
The operating systems are identical between the 2...
Other than that, hands down I prefer the 14".....
Really compliments the new dash design / layout nicely & just overall looks way better...

When I first test drove a premium package hybrid at the dealer I too thought this screen is way too damn big wtf!
After living with it for a month, it works perfectly for me. Sort of like viewing your ipad at home and then going back to your smartphone. I'm always like wait I prefer my ipad for browsing content..

Same reason a 75" TV is now in most peoples home..being upgraded from their 50" TVs

We have Digital Rear View Mirrors as an option today, why not Digital Windshield as an option tomorrow? :burnrubber:
