Worst part was the no water part. I can get a 50amp plug that'll power my well pump, both fridges, some lights, and the router. Gonna set this in motion sooner than later...

 

The no water is an issue - I had started filling my tub tho so I could at least flush...and I would just pee in the yard
That + the 60 gal pressure tank usually worked

My setup doesn't do the whole house but it does the fridges, the well pump, the router [and most everything else - no AC and no oven/range]...

I think my tank is 33 gallons, but I still went up to the store to take a shit I couldn't make coffee so I needed a caffeine fix anyways.

 

My brother in SC didn’t have power for 10 days when Helene hit last year.

 

Yeah my mom/brother were both without power for at least a week after wtf ever hit Tampa last season

My neighbors across the street have one, their elec goes out for 3 seconds and everything fires right back up.
But that cost 8 grand 20 years ago.

 

When the power goes out for an extended time, you sure feel justified

 

Power grid is super weird. The old farmhouse beside me and the house across from it had power all night. Me and the church across the street were without. Half of the neighborhood across the way had power, the rest was out.

Township got a load of 12 poles so far with another couple loads coming. Gonna be 2-3 days before it can be restored in that area, which is less than 5 miles from me.

I know people have gotten way worse in other parts of the country, but this stuff used to never happen here. It's becoming more common from what I've noticed.

Out of all the years I spent in Mississippi we never had a tornado do any damage like the wind did here last night.

 

Straight line winds aint no joke.
We've had two tornados in my town in 11 months; granted they weren't F5's, but when it happens at your house it still sucks.
Been lucky out here so far.

I'm using my Wen 2000 right now (identical to the Yamaha 2000).
You'd be surprised how much you can run off a little generator/inverter like that.
Yeah, if you wanna run a coffee maker or fridge or microwave, you can only do one at a time.
Just run the fridge for one compressor cycle, until everything is cold again.

I could run my Generac 5500 but it's loud AF and uses a lot more gas
