4th gen 4R V6 is actually more prone to timing chain cover leaks. The V8 is plagued with cracked exhaust manifolds. The 5VZ in the 1st gen Taco is generally more reliable, but 1st gens are endangered species at this point, and you'll be rolling the dice with aging-engine problems like blown head gaskets.

    UPDATE:

Changed PVC. Here are some pics of the old one. Seems pretty oily. Perhaps too much?

Is this cause for concern? I have an oil catch can installed, would this effect things negatively?

I did notice it seems "sticky" when I shook it. It did move, but could tell it was not free moving.

it came out of the valve cover. It is going to be oily. You wanna make sure that it rattles good when you shake it. I just replaced them because they are very inexpensive. Any parts stores will have them in stock. they’re under $20

Thanks. I'll be better and replacing it in the future

Did you figure out what you were going to do about your oil leak from the timing chain cover? It’s already established that the PCV valve has nothing to do with this because the crankshaft vents separately from the timing chain Compartment, unlike most other engines.

Ya, going to try that RTV "fix"

The PVC needed to be replaced and others recommended I do it anyway....

To be fair, the 2GR-FKS has had a reputation for being a leaky engine from day 1 in 2016.

Ya, Mine does not seem to bad, but would rather get ahead of it a little. Even if this does not stop it, I hope it should slow it down more.

If it slows is down even by half, it was worth the 25 bucks and a few hours of time IMHO

I think it will be fine . It’s really a seep not a full leak , it’s where the head and block meet , kind of a weird uneven spot there because of it .The sealant needs to be put on a little thicker there or in it will eventually leak . The only good is there is no pressure there . Just really oil splash . So usually the leak is small/ seep. It’s really more of an annoyance. One of the guys at work has over 200 k and his had that seep at 25 k . He just cleans it every oil change and it’s been fine .

Well, new problem: I broke the pump sensor clip that is on the sensor side! UGH

SO now I am in search mode for one of those... I hope that is an easy fix... seems it would be. Take the old one out, new one in... bleed a little....

    Lets hope...

Oh, and the belt I got to change while I was working on this was too short lol.. so now need to replace it as well.. lol...
