    Just a thought..

Wondering if a fan from a convection oven will work.

I'd rather ride in the rain than the wind. So rough on the body constantly fighting changing gusts and adjusting.

Well, I'm disappointed. My fault for not knowing exactly what I had before I started researching stuff, I guess. Went to try to alter the tune on my 701 and kind of ran shit out of luck../

Turns out I have a PC6, not a PCV, and the difference in what the end user can do is pretty huge, actually. PCV you can see actual values when you pull a map off the unit, but a PC6 you can only see a "zeros table", where you can make minor changes, but no ability to see the underlying maps. So like.. can't compare the power map vs economy map, can't compare the power map vs the stock tune. It'd just be blind guessing, which on a bike with no tachometer doesn't really inspire me with confidence. From the notes on the maps, the one I'm running DOES seem to be the stock map, notes say something like "economy, stock zeros" or something like that and that runs much better than the power map that's loaded on it.

Honestly tempted to pull it all out, sell the PC6 and switch, and just put a fuel plug in.. Honestly feeling kind of dejected right now, I had no idea how locked down PC6's were to the end user. Bummer. Might email Rottweiler, where apparently the tune came from, and see what they offer for other maps..

Anyone have any tricks for seeing underlying maps? Sounds like you basically have to have a tuner license to do that.

So what does the pc6 offer over the PCV? Why would anyone buy it?

Fall of 2023 was the last time that I rode my dirt bike. I didn’t ride it last year because that’s when I got Simba, my pup. I planned to ride it last summer, I also didn’t put any fuel stabilizer in the tank when I put it away for winter in 2023. I had trouble getting it started and when I did it wouldn’t idle by itself. It ran ruff when I rode it around the neighborhood. It didn’t have much gas in it, so I filled up the tank with fresh gas and took it for another ride. Now it’s running like it should. I need to rejet the carb. It’s jetted for sea level. The lowest I ever ride it is about 4000’ above sea level. On a ride I can go from 4400’ to 9500’. It’s cold blooded and hard to start. Rejettimg it should help with that.

Because they stopped making the 5 :anonymous::bananadead:

Sounds like the 6 gave some new features in terms of idle and cold start, but yeah.. really locked a lot of things behind tuner licenses. I don't know, I honestly probably won't dig much deeper and remove it and toss it on FB or ADVrider flea market. Rottweiler makes a booster plug that should basically do everything the PC6 was doing for me, but better. I've sent rottweiler a message to see if they have a general recommendation that I CAN do to their map. It'll let me pull or add up to 15% either way, but without seeing what the numbers actually are on the map I'm just guessing blind. Basically asked them if they'd recommend like, 7% pull across the board or whatever.

    We'll see I guess :help:

Lame. I dont recall what the maps looked like previously but they werent the greatest. Just numbers. But it was something to compare to surrounding cells. Its been 6/7 years since then though and i know my way around tuning decently. Hptuned my gto while i had it.

Yeah, I HPTuned my Tacoma like, 4 or 5 years ago? Whenever they introduced it as a supported platform. So like, I have some familiarity with what a map is. Figured TPS% vs RPM shouldn't be too bad. Looking at one map, not like 4 with the tacoma haha.

If I could see the base map, then I could see when they start enrichening it over base, where it tapers off or goes extra rich at WOT or whatever. Y'know if it starts at 80% throttle at 5000 rpm, cut it above there. But without knowing whats underneath I'm hesitant to just do across the board changes.

This site showed the evolution of the PC software. And yeah, PC6 as an end user is just 0's.

    That is soooo dumb.

A fuel dongle is probably the easy way to be happy though

Alright better news. Put in a 1” exhaust and Re blasted everything and started powder coating. Did all the small pieces first. Everything came out good. The oven heats the parts very quickly which is good. Then I did the front and rear fender. They came out good. Started on the wheels and after putting powder on the first one I was taking it off the bar I hang it in when applying powder and I dropped it. Well shit. Not a huge deal just blow off the powder and do it again. I decided not to continue today and take a day or two and then start back on the wheels. I have a better way of hanging now so that won’t happen again. Then I installed the kick stand, shift lever, exhaust hanger, heat shield, rear fender and new rear turn signals and the fender eliminator. Looks good

Hope everyone had a nice Easter. I was to busy riding to post over the weekend. Had Friday off work so I talked @FreshOldTaco into meeting up and going riding to gather up some more GLMC grand tour locations. I hit one location in Malvern, PA on my way to his house.

Even though the mural tour was in '23 I still find some cool ones so I stop and get pictures.

Together with a route I'd worked up we each picked up enough points to get finisher status in Friday's ride alone. A few highlights:

    Clifton Heights, PA

    Collingdale, PA

    Glenolden, PA

Hannum's Harley Davidson in Media, PA for a poker chip worth 2 points

    Chadd's Ford, PA

Chatham, PA to an old, deserted diner. We looked in the windows and this place was like a time capsule. The old counter with stools and old booths are still there untouched in years.

Happy Rooster Saloon in Gap. Thanks for lunch @FreshOldTaco !

Dirty Ol' Tavern Bar in Lancaster, PA

Lititz, PA for the Hide Away bar. This was back in a narrow alley and looks like it might be in the basement of someone's home.

Our last stop together other than gas, Mt. Gretna, PA for another Hide-A-Way

I finished Friday with 251 miles and 24 more points bring my score up to 78 total points so far.

Saturday after getting new tires put on the Tacoma I headed out looking to grab some more locations for the Team Strange grand tour.

2 more locations, 2 more points.

Sunday I snuck out for a few more stops before having to be back in time for Easter dinner.

These 2 stops were worth 5 points a piece. Headed home to change the oil, filter, and final drive oil in the bike and still had enough time to clean up before we went to eat.

Local to Richmond the only spot I know is mud mart. Which unfortunately just has the convenient entrance behind the forest hill Publix closed off. The trails can still be accessed from the west side near crestwood elementary. There's probably other ways to get in there but those are the two I know. Within an hour there's a few other spots. Richmond rough riders is a private trail system with a yearly fee down near charles city. They just had the free weekend to let new riders come check out the trails last month.

With body english, pulling/leaning back I could get the wheel off the ground on an XR100 in first and second, same with a TTR230. Tiny lump in the ground would help as well. Maybe he's trying to do it with nothing but engine power? My old YFZ450 (yes, a quad) could pull the front end off the ground in 5th with the right use of throttle and body weight, I never used clutch to pop it up.

Yup, engine power alone from a stop. Small bumps and body positioning while rolling is doable also, but trying to get the feel for lifting with a clutch kick as that seems to be easiest / most common occurrence. Your offroad gearing on the R is also way higher, rear sprocket on the SM is a 37 tooth.

There's some beauty areas, they get pretty enduro spec though which both my tires and self are not quite suited for. All part of the fun though. Think I should invest in some proper MX boots though if I keep pushing deeper into the trails though, not sure my street focused shoes / boots are quite adequate.
