I called a few ear/nose/throat specialists in the area this AM and they all told me they couldn't see me until July at the earliest...finally just told the last one that it was somewhat urgent, I can't go the next 3 months half-deaf lol. They "found a cancellation" this afternoon after that...it's weird it's like most doctors want to push new patients off as far as possible.

maybe they were banking on that appointment staying open to go golfing lol

it is absolutely insane how hard it is to schedule with some doctors, glad that you were able to get an actual ENT instead of having to deal with urgent care and “drink water, come back in 2 weeks if its not better”

I've had plugged ear canals due to waxy buildup a few times. The OTC drops (Debrox or similar) are a wax softener. They can make things worse at first by allowing wax to "settle in" and close things off further. Ideally you use the drops along with water to flush out the wax as it loosens. See: https://www.debrox.com/how-does-debrox-work

Any nurse should be able to do the flush in an office--no need for an ENT specialist. I was able to schedule a procedure at a local grocery store clinic a few years ago, although I ended up getting things sorted out with the at-home kit and cancelling the appointment.

The nurse will go in with a big stainless steel syringe full of water instead of the little rubber bulb you get in the at-home kit. It's the same idea though. Using the softening drops beforehand will still help.

The procedure is a little uncomfortable and occasionally a little painful (you have water putting direct pressure on your ear drum) but you'll walk out feeling like you have superhuman hearing. You'll probably also be amazed at how much stuff they were able to find in your ear.

I just had to drop my dentist over scheduling issues. The care once I was in the office was great, but they regularly scheduled my checkups 8+ months out, even if I made the appointment as I was leaving the office after a checkup.

Despite making the appointments so far out, they would also regularly call me a week or two beforehand and say they needed to reschedule. The kicker was that they could only put me on a waitlist because they were still scheduling 6-8+ months out.

Are these worth getting for 200? They need a rebuild. Usually 1,100 new. How much do rebuilds typically cost?

Are those the ones that are supposed to be for stock height rears? I seem to remember the standard Kings rear shocks offering wasn't for lifted applications but it's been awhile, someone else here probably does

I'd pass on them unless you're going to rebuild them yourself.

I'd probably buy them just to practice rebuilding them with and that's it. King shocks for the rear of 1st Gens are a terrible purchase.

It's the only variant available for 1st Gen rears.

Plenty of people have killed their shocks by overextending them, etc.

yeah I'm remembering now too that was a reason I went with the Icons over matching Kings for the back, the Icons were advertised for up to 3" lift

Those Fox shocks I gave you are about the same length as well. It's why I opted to use them over anything else.

Yeah those are gonna go on whenever the Icons bite the dust, which after ~70k miles I'm kinda impressed that they hadn't already. Back when I actually drove it anyhow lol

I take it out once a week usually on the weekend for errands...just waiting to get popped for the 2024 tags on it still, need to get over to the DMV one of these days. New tags got lost in the mail when we moved

one of these days need to figure out the damn alignment issue, it pulls right like a mfker and I never did get that sorted. Needs new tires. Needs s/c rebuild. Needs tags. blah.

Wrecker offered me $300. I'm going to keep the 4Runner up until the end of the week and if it doesn't sell I'll take their offer.
