I think there were like 17 cautions. Lots of them towards the end with drivers bunching up and crashing because they ran out of fuel.

Not a horrible race, just messy towards the end.

Jesse Love (2) ended up winning

That win didn't last long, Even his car knew something was wrong during his post race interview. It rolled away from him.

It would be sort of funny if that caused the height issue. I doubt it and we'll never know, but still would be funny.

Rock weekend was great. It felt like old school NASCAR in the early 90s. Concessions booths at the top of the stands, minimal track PA, no tv screens or NASCAR adverts plastered all over everything. The back gate to the track was open the whole weekend and people could just walk up and sit on an aluminum bleacher at the entrance to turn 3. All the drivers sat at pop-up tables for autograph sessions before the races. The crowd was enthusiastic and fun. The grandstands were PACKED!

Despite the heat and a wicked sunburn, it was a great weekend. Seeing a track with multiple naturally formed grooves provided some great side by side racing, big runs, and great passing.

    We’ll likely return next year.

About time. Phoenix has been awful for the championship race since going to the new car.

Phoenix has never been a Very Good race in my opinion, At least not on T.V.

The experience for race fans and even campers is even worse. All they care about is selling out the race. New ownership ruined everything that was good with any race weekend, let alone Championship Weekend.
It's a boring track for sure. We've fallen asleep more than a few times watching a race in the stands

Excluding the championship 4, there is now Sizzle to the race beyond the F1-style fan-out at the start. Everything after that is ho-hum, IMO. I'm not saying Homestead tells a better story, but you do have multiple racing grooves where setup guys like Kyle Busch can run the white line and rim-runners like Briscoe and Reddick can build momentum running inches off the outer wall. It creates more compelling TV, for sure.

No, but it was a lot better than places like Homestead were producing under the 550 package since the cars actually had variables in drivability and you couldn't just run wide open everywhere. Can't put it on ownership too much though because fans have been clamoring for the race to move on from Phoenix for a couple of years now.

Rumors are Vegas in 2027. That would be a good track for a Championship.
