when you are threading the flares back INTO the fittings hand thread them first before you secure the unions to the anchor points. The movement of the hard lines allows you to get it straight into the fitting. Once it's clipped into place you have zero wiggle room to get it threaded.

    ask me how I know...

More like that caliper was sitting in the ocean for a year before being installed...lol

I've never seen a caliper that bad...not even close.

Anybody notice that it's seized up too? Note the uneven pad wear. And the inside pad is cocked too.

Exactly right. Sealed system, don't seperate.
I screwed up refurbishing my '42 Studebaker. Back-up wrench slipped and I twisted the copper tube and cracked it. Lost the use of it then & there. Added an elec temp sending unit & guage.
(that was 1978 and I'm still bummed about it)

The Stude system had ETHER sealed in the line though, instead of alcohol.

    no salt water...inland
Straight up pavement princess in Massachusetts. I think that was 100K Mi. I had do do them both again at 200K. The calipers were good for 1 pad change. Second pad change I had to replace the calipers every time.
Eventually moved on to a 3rd gen at 250K mi

It was a long time ago, but I do recall being taught that Massachusetts is indeed on the East coast. Salt water was not my thinking, but salted roads during the winter. Not a lot of salt used here in the mountains of CA. Isn’t everything east of the Mississippi the East coast? Insert smiley face.
