Have you tried using a chain wrench around the nut? May apply pressure a bit more evenly around the full circumference than a spanner and help to get it moving.

Good job! They look like some beefy springs. If I keep my Taco, it will need something like what you and Mike have used on your trucks. The OE Off Road spring pack has sagged and will touch the bump stops with just a few hundred pounds of weight in the bed.

 

Thanks. Still trying to learn the “lake fishing thing”… way different than the tidal waters I grew up fishing on. Sometimes I throw everything in my arsenal and can get a single bite. Others I throw out a 4.5” paddle tail and they can’t not hit it.

 

LOL, It would only be tint, dash cam and maybe speakers. Nothing exciting or that I can do right now.

Unfortunately, I only got the medium leaf pack but then I always recommended the heavier one since it was the same price and then to take out a couple leafs. I hadn’t realized that when I got mine.

Alright. So i’m pretty dead set on buying a 2014-15. I know i need 4x4, access cab 4.0 auto.

I also want a TRD model this time. I’m partial to the sport because these trucks only look right with no chrome. Period.

However. I’m coming from a 2008 with no nannies. No nonsense. No bullshit. No traction control or stability control GARBAGE. So i’m trying to decide, do I want a TRD off road, do the locker anytime mod and have to put the locker in every time I want to drive spiritedly….

OR

do i buy a TRD sport, swap in my detroit trutrac mechanical limited slip, and physically turn off the stupid bullshit traction control every single time I get in it because I don't need it and don't want it. Then i’d also have all the painted bits that look really nice!!

Thoughts? I appreciate you guys.

Also no, I wont even consider newer than a 2015. Unless I buy a 3rd gen tundra or 5th gen 4runner.

 

With how picky you are on the vehicle, your deciding factor should be finding the right truck. I would search for any TRD, buy the one that checks the no rust, low mileage, etc requirements. Gonna be hard enough to find as is, wouldn’t limit to a sport or OR.

I’m picky as well. There’s a reason I went new.

You don’t want a 3rd gen Taco? To be screamed at by lane keep assist whenever the painted lines are slightly off? Or you veer to avoid road debris? It’s a wonderful capability. Highly recommend. I use it every day to collect dust in the off position

No thoughts, just wanna say good luck! I would agree with @Just_A_Guy an out looking at both OR and Sport. Just plan on new gears and a locker either way as long as everything else meets what you want.

Turned off lane assist as soon as I could. The Camrys steering wheel vibrates when on the line and no beeping. So that’s nice.

I turn it off in my dad’s 2020 every time i drive it. The radar cruise control is weird as hell too. I dont like it

yes, i agree. Primary concern is, no rust, 1-2 owners, no accidents, no fleet vehicles, etc

 

I’ve never really “needed” a locker. I’ve been in situations were it would have helped and I definitely would have used it, but I got along great for 13 years with just a mechanical limited slip

thats why i’m not so dead set on it HAVING to have the locker

i’m basically leaning towards just getting a sport and putting all my good parts on it. Then figuring out how to work around the quirks that i dont care for, such as TC, VSC, and the lame air injection pump on the intake

 

The lane assist in my past two 3rd gens wasn't too bad, just beeped at you. But the lane assist on the 4th gen can eff off! It will almost take the steering wheel out of your hand to correct itself. I turned that off on the first trip home

 

And you’d get a cool hood skewp!
