I had PPF on a vehicle before and the PPF still chipped most of the chips went down to the paint. If you drive every day you are eventually going to be behind a dump truck that's spitting pea gravel all over the road.

No we get it, but clearly you don't get my post, buying and trading in is just a negotiation. I could easily say my car is in excellent condition though the dealer says its only very good and stick to that couple thousand difference in my negotiating in which they agree to make the sale by either just making less in order to move the inventory on the trade end or working the numbers on the new end, financing etc. I've seen dealers overpay for trades constantly just to make a deal not to mention most the time dealers will never give you an "excellent" value even if the thing is flawless. PPF for most and most the time is pointless from a value aspect unless its a collector vehicle or you are OCD.

Yep, all my PPF'd vehicles (different films) after a few years up close had plenty of love marks.

PPF does not add value to you're truck or car when trading in.

I paid $62,500 for my truck ($66,978 MSRP), laid down $20,000 in 100$ and was on the right side of equity in the Audi.

And then on top of that worked the percentage on loan down 3% to 5.25

Maybe I am just good at purchasing ;)

Maybe everything was a good deal for both sides.

You want a cookie? Mine and my wife's are paid off. Again still missing the point. But yes sounds like you took your time to negotiate and had a good understanding of all the pieces of a deal. I'm not saying you PPF'ing was dumb, like I said I've PPF'd my Tacos and the wifes Lexus' for the last 5 years, but Im also OCD with my stuff, but at the end of the day when it comes to trading it adds zero value.

It's not just the paint that makes it "excellent". How well was the interior maintained, any road rash on the wheels, how new are the tires, etc. As others said, there's no way you can directly attribute any value increase due to PPF. There are way too many variables when you trade. And I wasn't talking about paying 8% interest , I meant earning interest (conservative). Earning interest, not paying interest is economics 101.

I'm just presenting an opposing view. If the PPF makes you happy and you think it's a good investment, that's great. There are many who think buying a Pro isn't worth it. I don't care, I like mine.

very cool OP. i know youre a veteran on these forums but dont let all the negativity get to you! we all spend on stuff that we value and others might see it another way.

curious if anyone knows what it would cost to have the car get a dozen or two chips professionally repaired? thats what i would be comparing the price to personally.

appreciate the sentiment. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I am glad such a contextual post can aid in letting others get viewpoints to make the best purchasing decisions. I think I'll post about oil change intervals and the best tire brands now LOL!!!

If you PPF your vehicle which allows you to not see chips and obsess every time you approach it, then it's money well spent.
