    Howdy all!

I put king coils on my 02' about 5 years ago and don't drive the truck as much as I used to, mostly a work mule driving it thru my woods dragging logs and tools around.
    But..
Today driving to town I felt a POP, then my front passenger nose dug in and I limped into a parking lot. Upon closer inspection I could see on the coilover where the shaft had separated from the mounting eyelet on the bottom. OOPS!
I didn't have a truck and trailer handy so I left it there and will go get it tomorrow to take it apart and dig deeper to see what else was damaged.

    I have a bunch of questions floating around in my head like;
When looking for damage, what should I look for? What parts might have been directly effected? How do I inspect them?
Is the coilover shot or can it be repaired?
How do I inspect the broken coilover to determine if it can be repaired?

Thankfully I was only going about 30 mph, maybe slower. And I was able to pull off pretty immediately.
I know the brake line took a hit because I lost brake pressure and there's fluid pooling underneath.

Thank you in advance for any advice!

You sure it wasn’t the LBJ? Could have failed and then caused the coil over eyelet to snap? Pics could better tell

If you have ABS, you need to get a handle on the brake fluid asap. If you the fluid drains from the modulator, it's going to be a huge pain to bleed. The dealers have a SST they can activate the ABS pump to bleed it, but as far as I am aware, the only DIY method is to trigger the ABS safely on a dirt road...

You should be able to buy parts to fix the coilover once you determine what's broken...

Majority of the above average scanner like Autel can enable the abs. Mine can do a lot more like program chip keys etc too. Wouldn’t need Toyota SST

You can ship the kings back to the manufacturer for 30 bucks or so and they will do a rebuilt and replace anything damaged. Give them a call, they are pretty reasonable

Buying an Autel is definitely not fancy. There’s other option besides using the SST

-I'm not sure of anything at this point, only had a few minutes to look at it
-Both wheels stand vertically. Not like the jeep pitured above Thank you for the visual reference!
After it broke I turned 45° left into a parking lot and stopped immediately. After a brief inspection I pulled it into a parking spot. It rolled fine but hard to steer, loud grinding sound while moving.
-Non ABS sr5 4 door I'm anything but fancy so thankful I can avoid the hassle of fixing it.
    - More pictures to come as soon as I get the ol' boy home.

I would be surprised if it was ball joint related. I've replaced all 4 in the last 3 years. I replaced the lowers with 555's I think the brand was called 555. Several people on TW recommended them. The uppers are 1" uniball with Camburg upper control arms.
Also I have spidertrac 1.25" Hub centric wheel spacers. Bolt on NOT the shitty ones.
    Running 285-75-16

Don't know if that extra bit of info helps, but it can't hurt

On a personal note, this truck is a FU@&!NG mechanical marvel!!! It's got 340,000 miles and it just won't stop running! It was my daily driver for over 10 years and only recently was put on mule duty because I got a used Indian scout. I love my Taco but the Scout is WAY more fun.

Thanks everyone! I'll post pics soon
